Over/Under Public House may have just opened, but it's already my favorite restaurant and bar in Burbank! The San Fernando Blvd. row of restaurants in Downtown Burbank had long been missing a premier gastropub that caters to foodies, craft cocktail enthusiasts and sports fans alike. Over/Under has eliminated a serious void in the area with its newly opened posh establishment. Most importantly, the food is unreal and the real deal! The Over/Under burger might as well be two burgers served in one because it's topped with a pile of pastrami and bacon! Too good! The Famous Burger is equally salivating! The wings are crispy and slathered in a variety tasty sauces, and the trash can nachos come with a cool presentation—and even better ingredients to taste. Food aside, the vibe in the place is upscale—but without the upscale pricetag. The outdoor seating area is great to enjoy the weather and do some people watching. The bar area is beautiful, and the place is packed with several TVs showing all of the live sports action. They also have a big projector broadcasting the marquee game, and once the games are complete, the venue refreshes with a hip music playlist for patrons to vibe to. Additionally, the service is by far better than the likes of similar eateries in the area like Barneys, BJs, YardHouse, Buffalo Wild Wings and Gordon Biersch because the intimate environment allows for the staff to cater to every customer with the attention they deserve. The owners of the restaurant are around as well, and make sure everything is always on point and taken care of. It's nice to have attention to detail that most chain restaurants regularly miss on. Case in point: as soon as you walk in, you are welcomed with a tall pitcher of water, plates and silverware for your table. The waiting staff is friendly and go above and beyond to make sure all of your needs are taken care of. Also, check out the private room in the back! It doubles as a man cave and offers a space to lounge with your crew as one. It seats 25 people and comes with its own bartender and waiter/waitress. Be sure to check out Over/Under Public House —you won't be...
Read moreWhere shall I start? Service, after getting a table, was decent, and the food presentation was amazing. Everything else was substandard for the price the restuarant charged. I ordered steak, medium. It came out beyond well done and almost cold. When I informed the server, he just apologized, and did not even offer to exchange the dish or discount the price. But this is not the worst part, which occurred as I was trying to get a table during this crazy Covid-19 restrictions. First, the host or main server (a white male in or around early 40s) wanted to sit my wife and I next to a bunch of drunk guys, who were making uncomfortable remarks about any female walking down the street or serving them. I informed him, and asked to sit at another vacant table further away. He refused citing that "we need rotate" the tables (it has been vacant for the 25 minutes wait). We got another table, next to a bunch of guys who had their vapes out and were using them publicly. Once again, I informed him. He turns around and asks me "do you want me to tell to stop?" I am not sure about vaping restrictions for outdoor seating, but it is Covid-19 and it is transmitted through open-air. Also, I believe city of Burbank has rules against vaping/smoking in public places. I am thankful that we were offered another table, slightly further. And regarding that other table I originally asked for, it was given to the next party of two after us.
In short, very bad...
Read moreThis restaurant is new and therefore the 4.5 star rating is misleading and incorrect. At best this is a 2.5 star restaurant because it needs improvement in two very critical areas: Food & Service. I would give this 4 stars if you are looking for a place to watch sports and have a few drinks. But the main food dishes lack quality and flavor. I tried over 5 things from the menu and all of it was mediocre, at best. The french fries and dessert were probably the best things I had to eat. The second component of my review is the service. Our food was over an hour late, plus we had to remind the waitress to bring us our drinks. In addition, the waitresses seemed to be more concerned with us ordering more food, which I found this to be extremely annoying, given the fact that the food we already order hadn't even come out yet! Two of the female waitresses were constantly at our table rushing us to order food, and we were perplexed as to why since we were still waiting for the first round. These female waitresses were also really passive aggressive and their attitudes made for a very unpleasant experience. The managers here need to sit with their waitresses and really train them on how to interact with customers because their attitudes and delivery towards new customers was poor...
