I donât understand these restaurants with almost five stars that just have to be fake or from people with no sense of taste.
Ordered noodle salad with pork and shrimp, garlic beef, pork banh me, and pho.
It was all bad.
The same type of pork is used in all pork dishes. Skewered grilled pork marinated in something that dyed it red. It may be related to the red marinade used in Chinese bbq pork, but it didnât really taste like it. In fact, it didnât taste like much at all. It was bland and poorly seasoned. It was also poorly cooked. Only the chunk at the end had a little char on it.
The grilled shrimp were cooked slightly better, but were pretty flavorless.
The pickled veggies could use a bit more time pickling to give it more flavor, otherwise they were passable.
Some of this could have been forgiven if the Nuoc Cham was better, but it too was strangely lacking in flavor.
The pho was overall pretty bad. The broth was bland and lacking in the depth you get from places who take the time to simmer it right. I will say that at least it was a lot less sweet than most other pho places around, which I like. But that doesnât mean much when there isnât much other flavors there. The best thing about it was that their tendon wasnât over cooked into a gooey snot as I prefer it to be pretty solid and with âcrunchâ, but honestly I doubt it was a culinary choice.
The worst item was the garlic beef. Someone. In our party wanted something different so it was a random choice, but it was just terrible. Poorly cooked and extremely bland. The beef might as well have been steamed, veggies over cooked and it just didnât taste like anything.
Oh, and the topper? Everything was like 30% more expensive than much better places.
If youâre in the area, please just go to Pho Hien Trang or really, just anywhere else. Pho Hien Trangâs pho broth is a bit on the sweet side for me, but it actually...
Read moreWe ordered catering through Pho Vina last week for our staff meeting for 20-25. We were trying something new and providing an all vegetarian meal for our team. We had heard Pho Vina has excellent vegetarian options that meat eaters enjoy, too. From start to finish, their service was over the top. The first gentleman who helped me place the order took the time explain the different options as well as give her personal likes and what he's seen with other customers. Being that I've never actually had any vegetarian foods, he was extremely helpful.
Upon pick up, the food was fresh. The other gentleman helped me load everything up in my car and walked me through the various sauces, how to mix the dished, etc. Very thorough. We purchased Mongolian "Beef", "Chicken" salad, "Pork" vermicelli noodles, tofu egg roll and spring rolls, and vegetarian fried rice.
As a meat eater, they were all really good. You almost couldn't tell they weren't traditional meat. We heard that from a lot of the staff. Everyone enjoyed the food and experiencing a tasty vegetarian meal (because too many of us have had terrible ones).
I recommend Pho Vina for meat eaters as well as vegetarians, and everyone in-between. Thank you for making the order and lunch seamless from start to finish. Our team...
Read moreI thought I'd try this place, once again after not going there for quite some time. Wanted to get a bubble tea, egg rolls, and spring rolls. It seems like there has been a change in ownership/management. There menu has increased in choices from regular and Vegan menu. The place was not real busy, only 5 tables. I asked for my bubble tea, to have while waiting for food. It did not come, I had to ask twice, finally waitress came with it only minutes before the food (appetizers) my fried egg rolls and spring rolls. Which in my opinion took far too long to come. The egg rolls were fine, but the spring rolls ( rice wraps) were like jatinus glue. Over cooked I believe, and noddles in side far to much. And tofu was tuff as well. The bubble tea, was fine. But since the food was mediocre, and serve too slow, (I'm only giving them three stars.) There were two servers and only 5 tables were occupied. The other thing I took note of how dirty the metal railings around the windows were, they were very dirty, and windows. Next to tables. The bill came $21 dollar's. If I pay that much I expected little higher satisfaction, with quality of food and...
