This restaurant seemed to have a great atmosphere before I realized how crummy their customer service was. For starters, I had a hard time finding options as a pescatarian which was surprising since many Mexican restaurants offer fish tacos and other seafood-based meals. However, this place had barely anything for me besides shrimp. When I finally settled on the Mexican salad, one of the protein options offered was the shrimp. It had a long name that was not in English so I just assumed it was a certain type of fish. Unfortunately it actually meant that the shrimp was wrapped in some sort of meat of some kind (possibly bacon?). There was no indication for this menu item that the shrimp was not actually just shrimp and when it arrived I had to learn the hard way that this was the case. Eating multiple bites of something I did not expect was disconcerting to say the least. Because of this being my first (and last) time at this restaurant, I first asked for a menu from our waiter to confirm that I did not miss something in the description of the item I received. When I told our waiter about the unfortunate turn of events, he did not apologize nor did he try to offer a way to make things right. Then, he brought the manager over who pretended like she did not know what was going on and tried asking how our meal was. I did not hesitate to tell her my discontent and she laughed it off like I was lying/not to be taken seriously. How is she a manager when she clearly does not know how to obtain and use customer service skills? She then proceeded to return with a menu and point out to me that the shrimp was actually described as being wrapped with meat on the other side of the menu. This was extremely rude and disrespectful. She did not apologize for the situation nor did she make me feel like a valued customer in any way shape or form. I was appalled by her behavior and embarrassed that this restaurant has to have such a negative image thanks to her. You can guarantee I will not be returning and I will be provided my negative experience with many others. Way to go Fresco. NOT....
Read moreWe were sat at a table near the kitchen and were being assaulted by flies. We could see other people at nearby tables didn't seem to be having this issue so we mentioned it to our waiter when he brought the food . His response was that it was his first day and he was doing the best that he could. Understandably, it wasn't his fault but he also did not ask anyone else about the problem. We hurriedly ate our food while killing flies with our napkins when we could and waving them away with our free hand. I also got bit by a fly! When he finally came back again and asked if we needed anything, I again mentioned the issue with the flies and asked if anything could be done. When he came back he asked if we wanted to switch tables. Because of swatting flies and rushing to eat , neither of us had had been able to enjoy the beer and wine we ordered , so we did accept that offer to move and at least enjoy our drinks. After moving to the bar , ( no flies there! ) I had the idea that something rotten must be in or around our booth so I walked back over there and at least four employees were staring at the 5-6 flies that were on the plexiglass by our booth and talking. After thinking about it , I asked for the manager. The young woman that came over listened politely and said the flies were really bad and they had just sprayed that morning. I asked for a discount for our food since the experience was awful and her " general manager" said she could take off ten dollars. If the waiter had asked the first time we complained or if someone in management had come out to assess the situation ( it was 230pm and not busy) the rating could have been higher. In 57 years , I've never experienced being bitten by a fly while dining nor the need to swat at them while eating. The two stars was for the food , not the experience or how the ordeal was handled. Needless to say, we won't be going back and I will be letting my friends know what happened. Unacceptable on many levels. Hopefully, they found the problem and cleaned the...
Read moreThis place is not cheap but the food quality is impressive. Maybe the best upscale mexican restaurant i've ever been to. I got a ribeye steak and it was rare even though I asked for medium rare but the flavor was amazing and it was so damn tender... man i want another one. The mashed potato side was also incredible and the red wine veal sauce was good enough to drink! This steak dinner was better than ones i've had in professional steakhouse but i will say the steak was pretty thin (1/2" maybe) which surprised me a little at first. My wife got the chile rellenos which were very good and got a street corn side which was the best i've had. Oh yea my steak also had a side of corn in some sort of sweet cream sauce that was awesome, i wanted to drink it but i'm on a low carb diet so I shouldn't be eating the corn or the sugar. lol. And yes i ate a little of the potatoes because they were so damn good i couldn't help it. We also had the bacon wrapped shrimp which tasted great but slightly overcooked the shrimp. We also had a cucumber margarita and a fiery martini and both were high quality and I'm very picky about cocktails. Atmosphere is very lively and the neighborhood is beautiful. Came on a wednesday at like 7 and it was packed, when we left it was dead. I guess it's from all the old people doing the early bird special. :) The only thing that we did not like is their queso, it's just not very good. Everything that we got in the queso was great but the queso itself is not good which is shocking for a place like this. Even HEB's store brand queso is better than this and it's not that great either. The texture and flavor is way off from good queso which makes me think there's not enough real...
