This place is a life changing experience at 3am. I don't think the fine people of the Burleson area understand what monumental change has taken place in the late night fast food landscape.
Imagine this, your sitting at home. You have nothing in the fridge, it's 2:30am and your mind starts going through the options. First thought is Whataburger, but then you start to think...do I really want to drive there just to get the same ole corpo slop and wait 45 mins in line. Your next thought is driving all the way to Everman to go to McDonald's but then you think, why would I subject my self to being treated like a burden, to be told we are cash only right now, the register is down, were only serving whatever is the opposite of what you want. Do you really want the heartache? I mean at this point a 2 year old can of Vienna sausages is starting to sound good. Your in your jammies, so Dennys/Ihop is off the table, what is a person to do??
But then like angel from heaven, a brand new taco place descends and revives possibly one of the worst run Taco Cabana franchises in history. All of sudden, you start to see the light ripple through the darkness.
Your first thought then becomes, do they have an app and can i get free stuff from signing up. Yes they do, good. You download it. You start browsing the menu, your mind at first has a hard time processing all the colorful images and descriptions. Brisket mac and cheese taco? Yes, please. You tap add. Then your see some delicious steak, ohh that chicken looks good. Wait what's fried avocado? ok ill give that a go. Then you remember, you have free queso, so you throw that in there as well.
You hop in your car, head over and see a beautiful LED backlit sign, it looks so inviting. You pull around unsure if you can pickup in the drive thru, hoping the shame of your current outfit isn't forced upon the citizens of the inside lobby. You hear a voice that somehow sounds excited to see you at 3am? How is this possible? The wonderful person asks if I have a pickup order, I feel a sense of relief. I say my name and away I go. I pull up and am greeted with a smile, how can this be, how can a taco place at 3am have Chick-Fil-A levels of customer service? I get my order and off I go.
I arrive home, not realizing what is about to take place. I open my bag, right away the chips are looking perfectly cooked, salted and fresh. I take a bite, indeed they are. I immediately start fumbling for the queso container, ironically I could barely contain myself. I take a bite, the queso is perfect. I immediately say my condolences to Rio Mambo and Mexican Inn cafe. I start diving into the massive tacos, filled to the brim with meat and toppings, tortillas looking fresh as ever. I begin my journey into what can only be described as a religious experience. Every taco was hitting, the meat was juicy (pause), the fried avocado was fresh, the shredded cheese was melty, the flavor was insane. Did I ever think mac and cheese would be good on a taco with pulled pork? No. Sometimes you have to let your guard down and try new things.
Now next time you have your friends over one late night, you can brag how this you know this amazing 24 hour taco spot, that rivals most viral 24 hour places in Dallas and beyond. You have a refuge in a wasteland of mediocre food and customer service for night owls.
Do I sound like a social media intern at Fuego Taco? Yes....
Read moreIt’s okay. We came for breakfast, eating inside. Walked in and couldn’t find a menu anywhere near the register. Finally found a to-go paper menu. Staff was fine. Not particularly friendly but she was pleasant enough. The place was very clean. The place was also empty except for 1 other table. The layout isn’t much different from the Taco Cabana. We got 3 tacos—2 of the ‘special’ tacos and 1 with just bacon and eggs. Eggs were pretty overcooked. All 3 were decent. Not great, but they were okay. For Burleson breakfast tacos the order is: 1 - Dos Juanitos (by a pretty big margin) 2 - Rosa’s Cafe (by far the best for eating...
Read moreDecided to try out Fuego via drive thru because there was absolutely no parking. We were mildly disappointed. No napkins or utensils in our bag, no green salsa (the best), and their corn tortillas basically fell apart once you took one bite. Food was fresh with great flavor tho. Update: upon further inspection our other taco was the wrong tortilla (at this point i was happy because i couldn’t even eat the corn) but it was the good golly miss holly and the mac n cheese had no flavor and the brisket was all fat. This place was a childhood favorite of mine so...
