My cousin and I flew into Austin,TX, from WI to drive a truck back to WI. My other cousin picked up and stored it for me until today. The seller doesn't tell anyone the fuel gauge is broken. We run out of fuel on the interstate and somehow coast into the I Hop parking lot. My cousin and I have been riding in a plane or truck for like 11 hours straight. I am wearing a homemade IT, the Clown t-shirt, looking home insecure. I walk over to ask two wonderful ladies if they are almost ready to leave. Told them the story, and the next thing I know, we are at the gas station getting a fuel can and fuel. A guy in the back heard that I needed some help and had no issue stepping up. The gas can is only a 2 gallon can, and that is not enough to get the truck primed. About a hour later, the lady I spoke with inside was leaving and asked if it was going to work, I told her that 2 gallons was not enough, she said get in and lets get you fixed up. Come to find out, they all work here and are getting ready to close. It is 50 degrees and dark. I have no tools, no way to call for help, 16 plus hours away from home and for some reason, we stopped in your parking lot. I am sure lucky we did. Your staff made braking down, enjoyable. I walked over to the hardware store, behind I Hop to get tools. When I got back, another employee who was also concerned about our problems was talking with my cousin. He brought out some hot coffee and was encouraging us to keep our heads up. He checked back two more times before they closed up shop. Three employees showed true compassion for two fellas in the parking lot down on their luck. Now, think how much they would have cared if I was sitting inside spending money for food. It would have tasted fantastic, I have no doubt. So please, if you are in the area and hungry, stop in here and see what the rest of the country is missing. Real, human to human interaction in a positive manner during a negative time. Both my cousin and I want to thank all of you for going out of your way to help us out. Both of our families back in WI also thank you. To the manager who said you can leave it here as long as you need honey, I hope the parking lot is full of vehicles that run and...
Read moreHonestly had one of the worst experiences last night. We went in around 10:30-11, a rare treat for us because we have differing schedules. Everything was fine until after we ordered and were waiting for our food. The kitchen was loud and being rude to the servers (maybe it was banter but it definitely didn’t come off that way) I ordered pot roast and when it came to the table it was so unappealing first the pot roast was about three bites worth and looked incredibly dry, there was no sauce with it and the mashed potatoes looked like the y had been cooked in a bag and rolled onto the plate. I said “is this a joke” and the server said. “I asked that too and I was told this is the correct portion.” I sent it back and could hear the kitchen clear as day “yeah I’m not surprised it’s a wonder we have never sold one pot roast. So like what do they want?” The server was like nothing then asked what to do with the plate. We had also ordered a side of gravy for my wife’s hashbrowns which had not come to the table and we weren’t going to ask for again but then a few minuets later our server was arguing with the cooks over if they dropped the correct pancake and I guess noticed the gravy he asked why there was a gravy in the pass and the cook said “it was for your table with the pot roast I guess you don’t need it now.” And then another server said “who orders pot roast with white gravy?” In a disgusted tone. At that point we were done. I’m not gonna lie we made a scene we got up and I was like “can I just get the check cause I don’t want to be here anymore.” They were really confused and my wife was like “we can hear y'all talking shit about us.” The cook yelled back so I repeated what they had said and one of the servers looked mortified but the cook just yelled back so my wife went to the register to get our check and when she asked for the MOD we weren’t told the cook was the MOD. We left and went to Waffle House, we will not be back...
Read moreI don't come here often, but when I do my experience has never been as bad as it was tonight. I am beyond livid at this point! It took roughly 10 mins after being sat for anyone to notice we hadn't had our drink order taken, which was then taken by someone who wasn't our server let alone dressed in what we could identify as an employee. It then took 30 more mins for that same person, again not our server, to notice we hadn't had our food order taken, and at which time took it. During this time a server, who apperently wasn't our server either, walked past us twice and a table that had arrived 20 mins after us was delivered their check. An hour after arriving we finally get our food and the lady who took our order refilled my orange juice for "free". Finally we're delivered our checks after being done eating for 20 mins, now an hour and a half after arriving, and my checked showed my orange juice had been taken care of. I went to pay for my $9.19 check and was then told I had to pay for the juice, by a lady with an attitude as if I was refusing to pay my ticket all together, which also happened to be the person who should have been our server. Before I had any moment to object, my card had been swiped for the new amount. I am a manager at a very successful restaurant and had any of my customers been treated the way I was here tonight, that customer would not have paid a penny and the server would be disciplined. Not once did a manager come by to check on us, in fact I don't think I saw one there at all tonight. Myself and the party in which I was there with will not be contributing any of our business here for a very long time. Extremely...
