El Fenix Mexican Restaurant has been a beloved Tex-Mex institution for decades, and my experiences dining there have consistently been nothing short of delightful. Allow me to take you on a flavorful journey through the world of El Fenix Mexican food.
The first thing that strikes you when you enter an El Fenix restaurant is the warm and inviting atmosphere. The vibrant colors, rustic decor, and the friendly staff immediately set the stage for a memorable dining experience. It's the kind of place that welcomes families, friends, and anyone looking for a taste of authentic Tex-Mex cuisine.
Now, let's dive into the heart of the matter - the food. El Fenix has mastered the art of Tex-Mex, and it shows in every dish they serve. Their menu boasts a wide range of options, from classic enchiladas and fajitas to more adventurous offerings like mole and chiles rellenos. No matter what you choose, you can count on bold and robust flavors that pay homage to the rich culinary traditions of Mexico.
The chips and salsa that arrive at your table are a testament to the excellence of El Fenix's cuisine. The chips are freshly made and perfectly crisp, while the salsa strikes a balance between tangy and spicy, making it almost impossible to stop munching on them. It's a tantalizing precursor to what's to come.
The enchiladas are a true highlight at El Fenix. Whether you opt for cheese, chicken, beef, or a combination, the enchiladas are smothered in a flavorful sauce and topped with gooey melted cheese. Each bite is a burst of savory goodness that lingers on your taste buds.
The fajitas, served on sizzling skillets, are another crowd-pleaser. The sizzle and aroma as they arrive at your table is enough to make your mouth water. The tender strips of marinated meat, paired with sautéed onions and bell peppers, are meant to be wrapped in warm tortillas and topped with guacamole and sour cream. It's a sensory experience that never disappoints.
For those looking to explore beyond the basics, El Fenix offers a variety of unique dishes like their mole enchiladas or chiles rellenos. These options showcase the restaurant's commitment to delivering traditional Mexican flavors with a Tex-Mex twist.
The margaritas at El Fenix deserve a special mention. They're the perfect accompaniment to your meal, and the variety of flavors and sizes ensures there's something for everyone. Whether you prefer classic lime or adventurous fruit-infused options, the margaritas are always refreshing and just the right balance of sweet and tangy.
Service at El Fenix has always been prompt and friendly in my experience. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and they are more than willing to accommodate special requests or dietary preferences.

Read moreI haven't been here in about 12 years. My memory of this place was that the salsa was so good, I bought a bottle and the food was pretty decent. Well, we walked in today and were greeted and seated promptly... That was probably the highlight of our visit. The atmosphere is what I expected/remembered... Mexican themed, nice. Our server arrived and was friendly, took our drink order and went on her way. I felt like I had to wash my hands after touching the menus though. They brought our chips and they had an odd taste, can't describe it but I wasn't impressed. The salsa was not what I remembered, it was more like tomato sauce, my son said that and he's a teenager but I agreed. We placed our order and she left. Our food seemed to take forever, at LEAST 30 minutes. We had two servings of chips by this time. We witnessed 3 groups of people come in and get seated after we had our chips on our table and they got their food before us. One thing I did notice was that everybody's food came out at the same time, despite the other groups that staggered in after us at different times. So, why did we wait so long and get served last (OUR food was the last of the train of food that came out to everyone). We started eating and my wife said her food was warm, not hot. She ordered Carne Asada, which she did not like. Son ordered steak fajitas, just meat and a few onions, no bell peppers? I ordered chicken monterrey which was pretty weak. We all agreed the rice tasted old, the refried beans were decent, my wife's charro beans had no flavor(I tasted and agree). The quality of the food has completely disappeared. Then the server came and asked if we needed more drinks (we were just picking at our food by this time), she SHOULD have noticed we were done but we told her our drinks were fine and so she left. We never saw her again, at our table but I saw her sitting in a booth in the other room while we were looking around, making it obvious that I was ready to leave. I even stood up at the booth for a few minutes . We waited 20 minutes a bill, that never came. I had to go to the front hostess and ask for the bill or we were walking out. Boy, she jumped after I said that and had it in our hand in less than 60 seconds. I didn't expect authentic Mexican food, honestly, I didn't even expect the best quality but this food was trash. Sorry guys, do...
Read moreEnded up at this location as my eldest son wanted to hangout for a while with myself & the missus. Then, our granddaughter calls me, and she wants to hangout, and lives not far from Burleson. Yeah, you can guess the rest. My son wanted Mexican food, so El Fenix it was, and wow ... what a great choice! Our server was Victor, and you talk about top notch, first rate service ... this young man definitely brought his A game!! Polite, friendly, outgoing, observant, and attentive were the qualities he brought to the table (you'll pardon the pun, lol). Seriously though, this young man was on top of everything. Myself & the missus were so impressed, that I spoke to the manager on duty, Arial, and told him all about it. I learnt from him that Victor had only been at this location like 2 or 3 months (??) ... something like that. But even so, for someone to be there that short of time, and to give quality service to a party of 4 the way Victor did is definitely worthy of some praise & kudos in my book! Now as for the food ... I had a fiesta taco salad, the missus had the fajita combo salad. Oh geez!! Are you freakin' kidding me?!?!? From a food perspective, this was our "heaven on earth" and it did not disappoint!!! I kinda regret not having taken any pics of it. That said, upon my request, Victor did take a family pic of the 4 of us (lol). Had I taken a pic of my salad, I was going to point out, as I did to Victor ... no water at the bottom of the dish. This is huge! I get it that you have to drain some things ... water off the lettuce, etc.. When done correctly as El Fenix did, you get a killer tasting salad!! I have had a taco salad before from another Mexican restaurant, which I will leave unnamed ... but as I got to the bottom of it, everything ... and I do mean "everything" was ultra soggy ... the beef, the tomatoes, the lettuce, ... everything practically wilted. And it had zero flavour by that time. There was so much water, it could have filled my tea glass about 1/4 full I would imagine. That's not an exaggeration either! So my thanks, and kudos, to the kitchen staff of El Fenix for doing salads right!! And thank you Victor for doing an excellent job in serving our table. I totally recommend this restaurant location, and should you stop by, be sure to ask for Victor. We will definitely be...
