Decided to take my two year old down to Kens pizza today for some lunch around 1pm and bring 7 months pregnant today’s craving was pizza!! So anyway upon arrival there were 4 or so employees near the door not one of them acknowledged us so we walked further in and was told to pick a seat anywhere so we did our waitress was fairly new I’m guessing because each question I asked she had to go check but she was pleasant none the less ... we ordered a kids meal (spaghetti and one meat ball ) and I ordered a slice and some wings the wings were priced at 10.00 and change for my dipping I requested ranch when the pizza came out which was 3bucks for a pretty small slice it was soggy underneath in certain spots (hopefully it wasn’t spit ) but it was also blah (Mr.Mikes definitely does it bigger AND better ) and my two year olds meat ball was decent sized but like mush .. yuck ! My son complained that his fruit punch was not so good he took one sip and made a face that backed that statement so we had to change his beverage choice .. FINALLY the wings come out which was suppose to be garlic Parmesan flavored but yet they were plain looking and tasting and the quality of the chicken is comparable too like the pre made bagged chicken you throw in the over for 15 mins but seeing how my pizza failed me I wanted to make the best of the most expensive item I dive in to what I thought was ranch it was blue cheese ! I can’t say I hate blue cheese I just like ranch better and after all I did request RANCH from the start so I got the waitress attention after about five mins and told her I had requested ranch with my wings she said she was sorry and would check with the kitchen after another wait she arrived with a cup of ranch at this point I was over it and so was my kid ! I broke open two pieces of chicken for my son because he likes it tore apart when it’s hot (it cools faster) but it was weird like parts you would think would be meat was jus a slimy fatty substance one you wouldn’t find in chicken at say a spot like (Ruben James) I flagged our waitress down and requested the check and two Togo boxes ... I noticed in the check the wings that were suppose to be 10&change were actually closer to 12 bucks which wasn’t a big price difference but me bring me I had to know why that was so I asked her and she said all wings come with blue cheese but there’s an extra charge for RANCH... mind you I didn’t ask for extra sauce just the one sauce included with my wing order !! I never heard of anything like that before ALL WINGS COME WITH BLUE CHEESE ... RANCH IS EXTRA EVEN IF YOUR REPLACING/SWAPPING ONE OUT FOR THE OTHER??? And that fact that she didn’t mention that to me....Madness seriously never heard of that !! That’s like ordering breadsticks and the dip is tarter sauce but if you want marinara it’s EXTRA !! Officially done with Kens pizza !! There are plenty good pizza and wings spots where you feel WELCOMED Regardless of your SKIN COLOR.. and that let you decide if you want ranch or freaking blue cheese for your d*mn wings!! Where the manager or owner will appreciate your business and not walk his short self past your table several times with his nose screwed up at ya !! They must be hurting for money to stay afloat especially coming up with scams like that !i was just happy to be there before the flys invaded the dining area !! I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like !!! Poor quality food unfriendly staff dark gloomy place ! Should’ve known better from the...
Read moreThis past Sunday I went to Ken's Pizza and Pub for lunch. I was with a group of friends on Church Street in Burlington Vermont, and many of our favorite restaurants were closed, so we decided to try something new and eat at Ken's Pizza. We walked into the restaurant and asked if they could seat a party of seven. Our waiter informed us that seating the whole group together was not possible at the moment and split the party up into two groups on opposite sides of the restaurant.
Despite the rough start, I kept an optimistic attitude about our dining experience. The restaurant holds a great atmosphere. As we walked in I was happy to see that there were no loud TV’s or harsh lighting, distracting aspects of other pubs I have been to that turn me off of going out to eat pub food.
All my table ordered was a few appetizers to share, nachos, wings, and a basket of fries. We planned on sharing appetizers in hopes that our food would come quicker this way, as someone in our party needed to be at work around an hour after we ordered. We waited for our food for around forty five minutes. By this time, the other half of our party had received their meals, paid, and left the restaurant. We had planned on spending time with the other half of our group after we all finished our lunch, but this was not possible anymore, as we received our appetizers almost thirty minutes after they paid their check.
Our waiter was very rude consistently throughout the whole time I was at Ken’s. His attitude made it very clear he was unhappy with his job. He never even brought the table water, or allowed us to order drinks. I had to flag him down to get water for the table, and even then he made it seem as though this was a burden on him. His attitude towards my table made me, and my friends very uncomfortable.
When my party finally received the appetizers we ordered to share, we had to eat quickly as one of us had to be at work shortly after, even though we gave ourselves plenty of time to eat before deciding to eat at Ken’s. The food was good, but definitely not worth the forty five minute wait and rude attitude from the staff. The atmosphere and food at Ken’s Pizza is positive, but the waitstaff completely ruins the...
Read morePizza is $3.50 a slice. Now I’ve had plenty of Ken’s slices in the past. The taste is always good. The meatball subs are also tasty. That said, they aren’t great value for the money. The subs run thin on the meatballs. The slices I purchased yesterday were beyond flimsy. The crust was so amazingly floppy and sloppy. I mean these things just immediately sagged like a towel when I tried to pick them up. The crust perimeter was so full of air bubbles that it completely crumpled when I bent it in half and fell apart. I had to eat both pieces like a calzone, folded like a roll. It tasted good but the crust was made so thin and unsubstantial that I was ultimately: 1) not impressed with the slice overall; 2) disappointed and dissatisfied with spending $7.77 for two slices of pizza that were the flimsiest pieces of pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. I am fully aware of the high rent cost of being located on Church Street (assuming they even rent and don’t own the building at this point), but allowing pizza like that out the door for that cost felt a little bit like highway robbery. Nobody forced me to get the pizza there for that cost. If I had more time, I would have returned it. Historically, their pizza has not always been THAT flimsy, but at this point I think Ken’s is taking some things for granted and shouldn’t rely on customers to come back if they keep serving pizza with such lack...
