Lips To Go — Restaurant in Burlington

Friendly staff, good service. Chicken has no flavor and the "lips sauce" is like a Buffalo or hot sauce they put on everything. Even the loaded fries and chicken wrap to our surprise. We wasted about 40$ in food trying stuff out. All the fried food was great and they have excellent ranch. They didn't carry any mayo for the chicken sandwich. I'm sorry but hot sauce or ranch don't go quite right on a chicken sandwich with a pretzel bun. No fountain soda machine, kind of blows. No BBQ either and it's a chicken joint. Think they really need to evaluate those individual things like sauces. Those make or break the ability to eat chicken that they do not season or flavor. I think it's just plain boiled chicken. My husband & I LOVE Lips-To-Go! We usually eat here at least a couple times a month. These are not just little boneless wings, or chicken strips with sauce; these are huge, honkin' pieces of tender white meat, breaded & fried, then slathered in sauce!! My personal favorite is the Lip wrap (in a tortilla w/ lettuce and chunky bleu cheese dressing). I can usually only eat half a Lip or wrap, they're so big.

The Burlington IA (original) location is mostly take-out (hence, the 'to-go'), but there is counter seating, should you choose to eat-in. The Macomb IL location is a full dine-in spot (which is great...cuz my son goes to WIU, so we frequent it, too, when I go visit).

I am not sure what all the hype is about. 4.5 stars and $$ tells me in going to get good food. I ordered 6 lips, 3 sauced and 3 plain. Only 2 dipping sauces available so I just got ranch and then fries. It took me 10 minutes to get home. The lips were so soggy that the breading had fallen off. Both sauced and un sauced were greasy/soggy, not crispy at all. Fries were unseasoned so I dipped them in ranch and the ranch was bland. I stopped at half my lips and fries left and could eat any more. Idk why this happened but not a good first impression at all. I have so many other options in Burlington that it's hard to justify going back after...
