Niko Niko Sushi — Restaurant in California

They have a clean, and friendly environment. They serve alcoholic beverages. I always get 2 Sapporo beers. I've purchased 2 gift cards from them in the past for family members as Christmas gifts ($25 increments) Worth every dime. I'm very OCD like with certain things.. like the inside and outside appearance, decor, table settings, temperature, social atmosphere, etc. Niko Niko constantly exceeds my high expectations. I enjoy going there and feel comfortable enough bringing a date for a relaxing evening. Service was excellent as always. Food always arrives in a timely fashion. I know this because my first my beer was only half gone before my food arrived. Most other places I'm into my second beer before the appetizer even shows up. Also most importantly!.. The presentation, quality, and taste of the sushi is top notch. With that being said I highly recommend them. Side note: They display paintings on their walls that are for sale. I have become so disappointed with the quality of the food. My last visit was today on 8/14/2015. I,ve been eating at Niko Niko since they opened. I've always rated this restaurant at least 5 stars for the years that I have eaten there. The service is always great; The waitresses always greet you with kindness and they continue to do so. However, for this past year I have been noticing the pride of cooking has been going downhill. Today there was only 1 oriental there making sushi. The other two young men were Mexican. My Sushi roll was falling apart before I could even get it into my mouth. The width of the slices were so inconsistent. It has to be bad when my wife makes a comment. Her California roll was remade after she made a comment to the waitress. It was bad. I told her that the pride of making Sushi has left the restaurant. The batter on the shrimp and vegetables was so thick and tasteless. It is suppose to be lightly battered. After all of these years I am saddened that we will no longer be returning. Very good sushi. You would have to go 90 miles farther to get better sushi, trust me. They have a standard variety of sushi and sashimi. Every dish is served with a side ginger and wasabi the same as other sushi restaurants; the ginger is to clean one's pallet prior to the sampling of a different dish and the wasabi is for the extra kick some people need to add. The server will start you off with drinks and a complementary miso soup, which is rather tasty here.The prices are what you would expect for a dine-in sushi restaurant and meal prep times are fairly quick compared to other places.

My party order several dishes and I was delighted with all of them. They were all made of fresh ingredients and prepared perfectly. The presentation of the food was excellent. All of the staff is very friendly and accustomed to people not using chopsticks (it is suitable for families with small children).
