This place offers specialty pizza, white sauce pizza, pastas, strombolis, calzones, wings, desserts, a variety of items. Almost too much to have a niche of what you’re good at.
We came during lunch and ordered supreme pizza 14 inch ($21.99), half lasagna and spaghetti in meat sauce ($15.99) with a side of meatballs ($6.99), wings ($10.99), rigatoni a la vodka ($11.99).
The supreme pizza looked promising and the toppings were overflow, with lots of pepperonis. It was delicious but lacking in the dough and crust. The bottom was thin and soggy.
I would recommend marinara sauce instead of meat sauce with the lasagna and spaghetti combo. It didn’t taste right. I’m also not a fan of overly cheesy lasagna.
Our favorite was rigatoni a la vodka. Not many places have this sauce. It’s vodka over pink sauce. Delicious. I would say this is their best item and a must order. The garlic knots was another contender. Buttery and garlicky. The dough on the garlic knot was really good and tasted yummy the next day. Everything else was just average.
We did take out and everything we took home was still piping hot and ready to eat. I would suggest a different type of take out container for the pasta because it almost melted. The styrofoam warped for sure and all I could think about was the chemicals going in my food. San Diego implemented a styrofoam ban back in 2019 but that got put on hold. Surprised that some businesses...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Rogers Pizzerolo and it was one of the best pizza experiences I’ve ever had. The menu features an impressive variety of pizzas, which made it tough to decide! I finally settled on the Party pizza , and it did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly crispy, the sauce had a delightful blend of flavors, and the toppings were fresh and generous. You can really tell they take pride in their ingredients. I also had the rigatoni chicken pesto that was recommended by the cashier and oh my god that was the best pasta i’ve ever had! the pesto sauce was so good and fresh! The cashiers were also incredibly helpful, guiding me through the menu and offering great suggestions. Their friendly demeanor added to the overall experience.Overall, Rogers Pizzerolo excels in both food and service. If you’re looking for delicious pizza and pasta in a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go. I can’t wait to return and try more items from their menu! Highly...
Read moreA literal hole-in-the-wall gas-station pizza shop. The pizza ain't the cheapest, but it's the closest I've had to New York style pizza anywhere in SoCal, and just pretty good as pizza in general. Not too greasy, crust is just right between crispy and soft, and the ingredient choice for cheese and toppings seems higher quality than many surrounding pizza chains. I easily pack in 4 slices and could go for a 5th if I'm really hungry.
If you come in often enough you build a nice rapport with Roger a.k.a Rogelio. The place is named after him and he's actually making your pizza. It's is a nice addition to the literal hole-in-the-wall format There's not too many places like that here. If you dine in be prepared to sit at one of two cafeteria style bench-tables amongst common gas store snacks. Cheetos and cookies will be providing your atmosphere while the A.C. may or may not be on, but since when did eating gas station pizza become a sophisticated dine...
