In-N-Out Burger — Restaurant in Camarillo

In-n-out is a west coast institution! Full stop. Is it the BEST burger I’ve ever eaten? No. Is it a place I will drive to having passed a McDonald, Burger King and a Wendy’s to get there? YES! It is a consistently great burger. Quality burgers, PROPER fries and Coke products (if you ever switch to Pepsi, you will lose my business. That’s a deal wrecker). As to those who would disparage the French fries: THEY ARE MADE THE WAY FRIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE!!! You are tasting fresh cut potatoes. Potato, oil & salt. If you don’t like them, you have become accustomed to garbage fries. Also, the company is fantastic! It’s privately held and not beholden to a board that will sell their soul to turn a buck. They have a set of values they don’t have to answer for. That’s why Chik Fil A does as well as it does and is equally held in the minds of their loyalists. Trader Joe’s too. They pay better than average, staffed very well, employees enjoy working there and it shows. Naysayers are more than welcome to stay home or waddle into a McDonalds and order your microwaved garbage from a huge iPad. GO...

The choice of location for this one’s a bit weird, and because of that the parking is abysmal. And you can’t even get into or out of the parking lot if the drive-thru is packed, which given it’s an in&out, that’s most hours of it being open. Along with that, the lot is too small for dining in customers anyway, so instead of just paving more spots out, they just have this dirt plot with no designated parking spots. Feels like I’m in a trailer park on a reservation.

The fries were overcooked, which I’m not even remotely surprised by because the employees who were taking my order inside sounded like it was their first time taking an order. Oddly enough though, that also sounded like it was the case for my friend who was ordering on the register next to me. I dunno if Camarillo just has a competency issue as far as customer service goes but for Christ sake they sound so unsure if they were even supposed to be there.

The burger was fine, run of the mill in&out.

In one week, I have been there twice, the first one, I was at the point where food was needed it, and it was great, I had good company and even a mishap that one tiny companion had was promptly taken care by a lovely staff person, the harbor one in Ventura is always super busy but time waiting was reasonable. In Camarillo, I did the drive thru which I almost never do at In N out but I don't think it was In N out, I also did the mistake to order an extra pattie at the window for Bella, and they told me to park for it. So, finally, I went in but I noticed they were about to go out with it, so I graciously said thanks and jumped in the car , It did not help I had hours with 4 teenagers and they were in the car. Overall, we all ate, Our friend had her protein burger which the employee clearly said they call it a double cheeseburger, I think she said. And maybe just maybe was the food that gave us a second wind when we should have been...
