Back when I worked and lived in Camarillo, I would come over to Peking Inn all the time for their lunch special. I’ve vividly remember how friendly they were, and how flavorful the food was. The lunch special prices were reasonable too.
We were visiting a few of our friends that own store in the same shopping center, so decided what the heck let’s pop in and do the lunch special like old times.
Just as remembered, the restaurant had the same 90s decor and friendly folks there to greet you at the door. And based on the clientele already seated, you could tell this is still very much a locals favorite restaurant.
They also take a traditional approach towards what they offer. We went to wash up before eating, then came back to find T, water, and fried wonton strips with dipping sauce.
A few minutes later, our super friendly server came over and asked if we had any questions. We had a late breakfast, so decided just to order a couple of soups. Everything was delicious as remembered and again, stellar service from the staff.
The only thing we were a little surprised to see was the prices on the menu. Most Chinese restaurants that we frequent Ventura County have lunch specials ranging between $12 and $14 per plate. the average lunch special here was about $16 per plate. And like other lunch specials, it comes with soup and such as well. We were just surprised to see dinner prices for lunch specials.
Great service, good food, and nice atmosphere always make up for a successful restaurant. Peking Inn hits all of these and makes it no wonder that they have been in business all...
Read moreI do not know how this place has good reviews, we must have came on a bad day for the kitchen or something because the food here and even the water and tea were terrible.
First, Let me start off by saying the tea that you get, Jasmine Tea, you can taste the tap water they are using in the water. It’s not filtered or the filter never gets changed. If you know about the water quality in this area, it’s not great.
Second, we tried a few dishes here and every dish we had was just bland, no seasoning, meats are not marinated at all. The chicken tastes like it was sitting in the tap water and had a weird fishy aftertaste.
Even the fried rice was bland and taste like it was only cooked with a small amount of soy sauce.
The staff was friendly but that does not make up for the bad quality in the food.
The men’s bathroom smelled disgusting like sitting water with something I can’t even describe.
I’m sorry, but I must be spoiling myself by going to San Gabriel valley to get delicious Asian cuisines such as Dim sum, Chinese food, Taiwanese food and many more in that area and have had real authentic food in that area.
But this Peking Inn is not authentic at all, seems like this place is just cooking at the bare minimum to get your money.
Wont ever come back again.
We did not wanna complain because it’s the holiday season and we did not wanna ruin anyone’s mood. Plus they wouldn’t be able to fix the food anyways on the spot.
Do not...
Read moreNever received such horrible service. I placed an order and within 4 minutes of placing my order I called to cancel. We had a family emergency arise and would not be able to have dinner as previously planned. Instead of being understanding about it, the owner claimed that they stayed late for us to make the food (not true because they were still open when I called, and when I canceled it was 1 minute past closing, making his statement quite the exaggeration). He also said he would not refund my money for the cancelled order because the food was already made and packaged. If this is even remotely true, it’s VERY worrisome that it only took 4 minutes to make and package it. Probably an indication of the quality. The courteous thing for a business person to do would be to issue the refund, based on our family emergency and take the minor hit. I would have become a regular, loyal customer for their kindness. Now, I will never go back, ever. Huge mistake on their part for such a small inconvenience on a small order.
I ended up saying “fine, charge my card since you’re going to anyways, and feed your workers my food.” And he said “okay!” Honestly, a baffling interaction.
If I see a credit show up on my bank account to remedy this situation, I will remove this review in good faith and give a second chance, but I’m not expecting anything based on how rudely I was...
