Warning: this once wonderful restaurant has done a 180° turn because the couple that owned it have retired. She was full of warmth and friendliness and the food was superb, even the rice. It has turned from one of the best restaurants to the worst possible restaurant ever! I really never knew what bad customer service was before I sadly chose to eat here. Most of time I appreciate the hard-working servers and staff, and I don't mind if I have to occasionally get up to ask for something that's okay. This restaurant did not make me feel welcome in every possible way. First they tried telling me they weren't open(they were), then they tried telling me that they didn't have any food, well I'm looking over at the sushi bar and seeing plenty of fish over there. They start back pedaling and offered me a table which I don't even want anymore but I am so very late and starving I feel like I don't have a choice about it so I just bite my tongue and take the abuse. I tried to order right away since I was so late and was blown off. When I finally received the food I was so so hungry and in such a hurry and popped a sushi in my mouth before realizing that the fish was not cold anymore. It's real important to keep fish at a certain temperature. I wish I could have unswallowed the food because the fish was warm. The other few items I had weren't temperature sensitive so I ate those cuz I was so darn hungry. The quality of the other food was substandard. By the time I left my stomach was all twisted up from the stress and the worry about eating fish not kept at the proper temperature. Later that night, yep you guessed it, I got violently ill. Not just mild food poisoning symptoms that go away in a day. I couldn't even get out of bed for 3 days. I had a headache so bad I felt like I had been poisoned. I was so dehydrated cuz I couldn't keep Anything down. I'm definitely going to contact the Department of Health about this. I've eaten in little hole in the wall restaurants and fancy restaurants that serve sushi and never ever had a problem. There's a Sushi Confidential nearby that seems to have pretty good reviews. My very strong suggestion would be to choose them instead, I will as soon as I recover from the horrible visit to Kaizen...

If you say 'service was nice' and then give service two stars, you aren't really being honest, are you? So, perhaps, you need to rethink how you slam your fingers against your phone, yeah?
I think there should be a different set of metrics for in-house and delivery or take-out. That said, I have had in-house and delivery (Uber) and stand by my number of stars.
First off, the prices are great for what they serve. In this area, you could go to a confidential place and get far less for far more. Second, sure, the rolls might not be as tightly rolled as the ones you find in other places. But they contain a lot of fish and aren't small . . . and did I mention the price (again, let's keep it confidential)? The appetizers are also good. The udon plate was wonderful. The calamari appetizer is simple, yet wonderful. The gyōza are on par for most places like this. And I guess the sake special is a big draw (as I don't partake). Third, the staff are a treat. They greet you with a smile. They say goodbye with a smile. Heck, on one recent visit, the chef/cook/owner(?) sent a plate of free fish to our table. They are busy and you have to wait? You understand that is what happens when places are busy? They aren't profiling you. There is no evil intent. If you are a doof, maybe they just don't want to serve you?
All in all, thank goodness they aren't located in what is now downtown Campbell. I hope they remain a hidden treat for those that know. For those that don't, I am lying. And, for those that do and left lame reviews that sounded like you have acid-reflux-criticism-disease and can't wait to waft that stuff at the interwebs, seek help. You might feel better. But, seriously, you aren't (hint: you are the problem that you seek to fix). And you ruin the chance for a place to thrive in an area that tends to crush good places, with good service and prices, in favor of momentarily interesting spots that end up leaving you feeling empty. That's not...
Read moreWorst place in ENTIRE area do not Waist your time OR money here. The food has gradually gotten worse over time & service is very bad & rude u may not notice on 1 visit but become a regular & U WILL see. Dare to politely complain they get highly upset. I'm done with this place to many bento box with mostly fat meats or so tough u CANNOT eat it. Lady tried to tell me that if you don't eat chicken katsu while hot if you let it cool it just becomes tough Lol! So silly but try it for yourself. When I first came here almost a year ago there were ALL different staff cooks waiters waitresses & manager ALL very nice but every time I come in more & more gone & replacements are all bad fake nice at first then rude & UNGRATEFUL for huge tips I always give. My money is good in much better places. The owner is always here a lady that will smile in your face but don't dare complain when things aren't right she's NOTHING nice then nor her staff. Sad for them they will lose many customers if they don't do better. Now as I sit here typing this owner comes out to apologize to me & acknowledges me being a very good customer ALWAYS nice & bringing her a lot of business THEN invites me back meal on the house? In ALL fairness I have to tell you this as well & how surprised I was she did so just not sure she is as sincere as she is worries about bad honest REVEIWS & loseing BUSINESS. Not sure I'll ever come back there are too many choices but even after reading this honest reveiw u decide to try it I hope it's all...
