I really wanted to love this place.... I don't often go for a crepe meal, because although I love crepes, they often disappoint from either an underwhelming portion for the price, or a lack of interesting options. On the first count, this was no exception....portion was really meager. On the second count, the options looked good, many savory choices, many sweet choices. I was seduced. I ordered two: The Fort Stevens....WILD smoked salmon, cream cheese, gr. onion, spinach, mustard dill sauce. The pale smoked salmon (thus didn't really look wild, but you can't tell completely from that alone) was in fine abundance, it was just everything else that wasn't. I saw no signs of cream cheese and tasted no signs of mustard dill sauce. It was as if they had forgotten both. This puppy was D.R.Y. A few spinach leafs, a little gr. onion. Not worth $11....I could go to Lazy Susan across the road, and for a couple bucks more get an entire breakfast of omelet with potatoes/fruit and be fully satisfied. But that's Lazy Susan....she's always been very, very good to me.
The Cape Falcon: Lemon curd, fresh strawberries, whipped cream. Sounds delicious, right? Well, it was tasty. But if/when you put whipped cream in a take-out crepe in a smashed-flat container, what happens to it? It becomes a liquid, and you can't tell it's there, except it was liquid-y, and lemony, so I assume both cream and curd were included. Texture-wise, not so much. A few sliced strawberries, but that baby should not have cost $8.50.
The crepe itself is of the spongy variety, not the french egg-y variety....not my favorite except it had the possibility of being the only thing which might have helped to fill my hungry hole---but it didn't, because after $20, I am still PLENTY hungry. I wanted to love this place,...
Read moreCrepe Neptune is doing everything right! We decided to walk into town and try this place for a light, quick breakfast. They are all served ice cream cone style, for a crepe on the go. There were so many options that it was hard to choose. The menu was very detailed. They had “Savory” on one side and “Desert” on the other. They also had a Crepe of the Day special listed. When we finally decided what we wanted, they have to kiosks to order from. Everything is extremely detailed and makes it easy to customize your chosen crepes. I ordered Neptune’s Daughter (pictured). It had lemon juice, sugar, and butter. It was so good!! I could have easily eaten another. We also ordered the Haystack Rock and the Smugglers Cove. They were all seriously the best crepes we’ve ever had. I tried a latte with vanilla and cinnamon, which was a good way to start our day by drinking it on the beach watching the waves. There is no seating inside, but there are a couple of benches near the walk up. So you do everything on the kiosk, including pay. Once your order is ready, they call your name and voila. The girls and gentleman there the morning we went were all smiles. We were very sad the they were closed Monday morning before we left. I needed one last fix before leaving Cannon Beach. Bummer. Guess I need to go...
Read moreThe smells coming off of this place were divine. I was starving and this was a perfect little hole in the wall stop (literally). We had a savory crepe and it was absolutely delicious, and made quickly. The kids loved it, too.
Taking off one star because of the service. There was a note on the iPad that said something to the effect of “don’t make the chef cranky and walk away before you get your order.” And I witnessed as someone did just that and the staff did indeed get cranky. All of that isn’t that bad in itself - they are just being honest about their expectations and needs. BUT, then there is a tip screen. So not only am I being asked to tip for an order I placed on an iPad (not with a human), that is served to me through a window, and am being asked to tip before I have even received my food and can verify the quality, but I’m now also expected to tip when the establishment has explicitly warned me they will be grumpy with customers. Just rubs me the wrong way, like they expect extra payment simply for being willing to serve you at all… which is the point of food service. This isn’t something that would prevent me from returning or from recommending this spot to others. But I’d like management to take note about what a big turn-off the...
