First, the coffee is amazing. That said, service fell way short of expectations this trip. Not only are hours sporadic (the closed days change often), but opening at 8am is unacceptable for a coffee shop and only serves to create long lines. And I mean long. Budget a 15 minute wait per 3-4 parties in front of you just to place your order. If you're not there at least twenty minutes before opening, kiss a good chunk of your morning goodbye. Mobile ordering is also a joke. It doesn't turn on till half hour past opening and can be randomly turned off when they get busy, which is always. Sometimes they say it's turned off when it's really on, in which case your order is cancelled without your knowledge and youre left waiting for twenty minutes. Not that it matters, even when it is working your order will be at least twenty minutes late. Make sure they don't double charge you, as happened with me. Mobile ordering was never turned off or cancelled on my end. The baristas response was to snark at me, but when I can see your coworkers grinning in response, I know...
Read moreI'm giving this place a one star for service. We had to wait 30 minutes to from ordering to getting drinks. Most inefficient coffee place I've been to. 5 people working there 3 not working hanging out. Person at register doesn't greet you is slow needs another register. Baristas there are two one only does espresso and the other makes drinks. you think the one doing espresso could multi task and put ice and milk into a cup that already had espresso to make a ice latte but that seems to hard for them.
Good luck on Getting Pastries the owner is either too cheap to hire a pastry chef to stay longer or not ordering enough. Every morning they are out around 9 am. So good luck in getting a pastry. It's 12 pm now and they have a line out the door think of all the pastries they could sell if they had them. But obviously they don't care or bad management. We came yesterday at 10 am and they were out as well
Espresso is okay. The location is cute but management needs...
Read moreDuring our brief stay at Cannon Beach, we visited Insomnia as a walk on the beach isn't complete without a beverage in hand. Little did I know that the pastry would take center stage. As we were ordering our drinks - loose leaf iced black tea for me, latte for my wife- we noticed the raspberry scones beautifully displayed near the register. Although we rarely order baked goods to accompany our morning drinks, we went against our usual restraint as we knew miles of hiking were in the near future and we had read that the pasties were made in house. Well, the first scone led to the purchase of a second as sharing was not an option. It was -magical. It was buttery, it was soft, it was tart and sweet- a marvel in my mouth. My wife insisted we purchase a third for the road and we are glad we did. Whether you drink coffee or not, a visit to Insomnia is a must. The pastry chef is a genius and her works of art are a must have...
