I’ve been here for dinner on my own, with friends and family and more recently for a party of nearly 50 people for a memorial dinner. Elizabeth, or Liz, helped plan the entire dinner and made it very easy during our difficult time. She helped set up a custom menu giving me options to consider that I thought would work for my friends and family. There were several options to choose from.
Then we discussed where in the restaurant we would seat the group. Once the party size grew to 47 people she said she could set the main dining area up in long rows to accommodate our group. This option worked out beautifully. She printed out a custom menu that was on the place settings with a custom title to honor my mom.
Our entire group drove from Westland to Canton following my mom‘s funeral and they were ready and waiting. She made sure there was an appropriate number of staff working to accommodate our large group at 3 PM on a Saturday afternoon. They started right away taking our beverage orders followed by our entrées. Everything flowed beautifully from the kitchen. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Service was great.
After the dinner concluded most people left to go home and a few of us stayed behind at one of the long tables and visited for a little while. The staff quietly cleaned up all around us and never made us feel like we had to hurry out of the restaurant, Leaving us to visit as we concluded the dinner with friends who had flown in or drove in from out of state or far away. That was really nice not to have to hurry.
Whether you are dining for one, two, or a large party they can definitely take care of you. Despite the fact that it was a large group The atmosphere was relaxed and I was able to walk around the different tables and greet everyone during dinner and after to thank them for coming And take a few photographs.
Friends and family told me during dinner that they really enjoyed their meals and the service. Even a few days later people were still telling me how much they enjoyed their dinner and said they hadn’t been there either at all or in a long while and that they now want to go back for an individual dinner. Me too. I’ve never had the Mezzaluna but it looked delicious and now I feel like going to get some soon.
Thank you Liz for helping to plan a beautiful celebratory dinner in honor of my mom. We loved it and she would have too. Thank...
Read moreUpdate: As of today 1/30/25 we still have not received the refund to our credit card and gift card that we were told were issued. While picking up curbside this evening 1/25/25 - our order was give to another customer and they drove off- there was only us and the other car at the time we arrived- when that customer brought it back about 10 min later- the waitress took the order inside and less then 5-8 min late the waitress brought the food out. When I asked if that was the food that was given to the other car she said “yes but I had to remade for you” there is no way she had it remade that quickly and then said she asked her manager to give us a credit back for our food. When I told her we used a gift card and a debit card she said ok she would talk to her manager to issue the refund. 15 mins go by and she brought food out to another car. When my husband asked about the refund - she said her managers were to busy and would get to the refund when they could. Or we could wait until the managers had time to give us a cash refund but she didn’t know how long that would be. My husband asked for managers name and she said Kim. Him said he would contact her later. When we got home the food had clearly just put into a different container. The chicken was on the bottom of the pasta in the container and the lasagna cheese was on the bottom of the container- like it was just flipped over into a new container. When we tried to call this evening to talk to Kim the manager - we were placed on long holds and told Kim was too busy to talk. We asked for a different manager and then placed on another long hold. About 15 min late Kim came on the phone. She was very nice and professional and said she would address the situation. She said she doesn’t remember remaking the food since she was working in the kitchen all night. To have food taken by someone else and re-boxes and give to us - saying it was made fresh is appalling. While Kim did issue a refund. I do hope the employees who did this are talked too and know how disgusting and horrible it was to do this. How sad for this to be a my husbands 1st experience at Carrabba‘s after I talked...
Read moreI’ve always been a fan of Carrabba’s—from their flavorful chicken parm to indulgent chocolate martinis and typically excellent service. Unfortunately, our visit this past Sunday didn’t live up to those expectations.
When my partner and I arrived, the three hosts at the front seemed noticeably disengaged, almost as if our presence was an inconvenience. Still, we were seated quickly since the restaurant wasn’t busy, aside from a large party that would later be cited as the reason for our delayed meal.
My partner ordered his usual lasagna, and I went with my standby, the chicken parmigiana. Our server was courteous but not particularly attentive. She did check in a few times, mostly to say, “Your food is coming up,” but the wait felt excessive.
When our meals finally arrived, the quality was disappointing. The lasagna portion was unusually small and looked dried out. My chicken parm was visibly burnt, one fillet had cheese that appeared scraped off and replaced, while the other was overdone and blackened. I tried salvaging the dish by trimming the burnt underside, but it was too dry and tasted scorched. The pasta with meat sauce, however, was quite good.
Our server noticed the untouched chicken and kindly offered to remake it, but by then we’d waited long enough and my partner had already finished his meal. She did remove the chicken parm from our bill, which I appreciated, though I had eaten the spaghetti portion.
I understand that delays and occasional kitchen mishaps happen. What bothered me wasn’t the wait or the need to remake a dish, it was the attempt to serve something clearly subpar as if it were acceptable. That’s what left a bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively.
Everyone has off days, and I’m hopeful this was just one of them. I’ll return to Carrabba’s again, but this experience was a letdown from a place I...
