There’s no IKEA in Nashville, Tennessee, where I live, so visiting one was a must during my 9-hour road trip to Michigan. I had watched countless YouTube and TikTok videos about must-buy IKEA items, and I even made a shopping list—so skipping this stop was not an option!

This IKEA is located in a quiet area, which I liked. The parking lot was huge, but it was still packed with cars. Luckily, I found a spot not too far from the entrance. Walking in, it felt just like any other IKEA—well-organized and full of beautifully arranged displays designed to make you want to buy everything.

This visit was extra special because the last time I went to IKEA was four years ago when my kids were still young. Back then, they found it pretty boring. But this time, it was different! Since we're planning to move to a new home soon, they were excited to imagine how they would decorate their own rooms. They explored every section, picking out things and saying, "This would look great in my room!" Time flew by, and before we knew it, we had spent three hours wandering around.

However, there were a few downsides. By the time we were done shopping, we were starving, but we found out that the food court closes at 7 PM on Sundays—so no Swedish meatballs for us. 😭 Also, the bathroom situation was pretty disappointing. Every stall was either dirty or out of toilet paper. For such a big store with so many visitors, they really should clean the restrooms more frequently.

Product availability was mostly good—lots of stock and well-organized displays. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, I was hoping to buy a discounted bookshelf, but it was out of stock. Unfortunately, I only found out after coming down to the first floor. If I could check stock availability in the showroom beforehand, I could’ve adjusted my shopping list. Going back upstairs wasn’t an option since we were short on time, so I had to leave without it.

The checkout process was smooth. I used a gift card at the self-checkout without any issues. The pick-up parking area near the exit was super convenient for loading large items into the car. However, be careful in that zone—people suddenly pop out of nowhere or swing their car doors open unexpectedly. It can be a bit chaotic.

IKEA always makes shopping fun! I bought a bunch of small items, and I’m happy with everything. Honestly, I’m even thinking of going back tomorrow because there are still things on my mind. šŸ˜‚

Overall, this IKEA doesn’t have anything unique, but if you love the classic IKEA shopping experience, you’ll enjoy it. Just be mindful of the early food court closing time and the restroom conditions. Also, better stock-checking options would make shopping even smoother. It was a great visit, and I’d totally come...

First reaction? Amazing! It is a very busy store. Parking lot Full. Depending on the section inside IKEA, it could be crowded.

The second floor showcases everything they sell. It has mock room set ups, textiles, plants, candles, decor, kitchen items, rugs indoor, door mats, candy, closet systems, whole kitchens, hangers, beds, couches, cribs, dressers. If you need it, I am sure it is in IKEA. Kid section even had IKEA Legos!

By the time we reached the food court, we needed the break. We sat at a small round counter which had a play area for kids, within the circle of the counter. The meatballs were pretty good. If you have stomach issues bring a Pepcid pill, just incase. My daughter did the meatballs, mashed potatoes, and peas. She liked that too. Water is free, but we didn’t know that and bought water bottles. They have fountain pop or limited Pepsi cans to purchase. We went on a Saturday, I would have thought there would be more choices. Since this was our first time maybe it is always like sparse feeling.

Bigger items Are pickup on the first floor before the checkout. Download the app and scan as you go. That will let you know which aisle to find your bigger items. Or take photos of the tag of the items you want. Then you reference it when you get to the warehouse part. Sounds hard, it was easy. Plus there are workers to help. The workers everywhere were very nice.

The checkout area is a ā€œgroceryā€ section. It also has more cooked food for sale. Hot dog, pretzel, cookies, etc. The grocery part has more traditional Swedish foods! I found that fun to look through. There is also frozen meatballs. The gravy can be purchased too. I wanted to bring frozen items home, but I would have needed a cooler with ice, since it is July. Good to know for next time.

It definitely is a unique experience. Follow the arrow on the floor. It is a bright arrow pointing you to the next section. There are doors to skip sections you do not need to see. Random map info of ā€œYou are hereā€ are along the way. I found those helpful because it reminded me of what sections were coming. Bathrooms needed to be cleaned more often, due to how many people are there. Just bring few wipes in diaper bag or purse, especially if you have kids who need to potty often.

All in all, it was worth the long drive through I-94 construction, over the holiday weekend! Bring money, a lot. LOL. We spent 4 hours walking around the store. Yes. There is that much to look at. I went to get a desk. I spent more than double what I thought I would. I found so many random...

Dear IKEA Customer Service, I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with the experience I’ve had with my recent kitchen order. My wife, who is 9 months pregnant, and I decided to choose IKEA for our kitchen renovation after careful consideration, and based on positive feedback from friends who had previously purchased from your store. Unfortunately, our experience has been far from what we expected, and I feel let down by IKEA.

We initially worked with your team to design our kitchen, and both the measurement technician and the designer were very helpful. We were excited to move forward with the project and decided to use your IKEA project credit card for the purchase. However, we chose not to proceed with the installation service, as we had friends who were experienced with IKEA kitchens and offered to help with the assembly and installation.

Our problems began when the delivery arrived while I was out of town on a work trip. My wife was home at the time and was told by the delivery driver that everything had been delivered. Upon my return, I immediately noticed that many items were missing. Assuming the warehouse would be aware of the missing pieces, I didn’t expect any issues. Unfortunately, this was not the case. My wife, who is nearly due, had to go to the store herself to identify what was missing. After some difficulty, we learned that we were missing every single cabinet door and two countertops. The store then shipped the missing items, but upon further inspection, I found that we were also missing all of the shelves. To make matters worse, we were sent the wrong cabinet for the sink. When I contacted a customer service representative, they suggested keeping the oversized cabinet and having IKEA ship the correct false covering.

This entire process has taken over a month to try to resolve, and I am deeply dissatisfied with the lack of efficiency and support. Now, I am receiving an invoice for my IKEA credit card, even though I have yet to receive the full order. This ongoing issue has completely soured my experience with IKEA, and I am requesting a full refund for this order or an appropriate refund. I would appreciate prompt attention to this matter and expect a resolution as soon as possible. I trust that IKEA will address this issue in a way that reflects the level of service and customer care I had expected when I chose your company. Thank you for your time and assistance. Sincerely,

Order Numbers...
