Cape Canaveral Public Library — Attraction in Cape Canaveral

I am handicapped and disabled. I came to the library Wednesday and apply for food stamps. Read a little bit of a book. I came by yesterday spent some time in the library while it was raining and then sat outside out front for a little while waiting on the rain to stop. An employee came out and told me I needed to move because I was blocking the book drop. I said no problem I moved to the other side. Today I'm hanging out in the park by the library. It starts raining so I come under by the front door to get out of the rain and wait for it to stop. A different employee came out and said I need to move to the other side. Then said wait you're fine there you'd be blocking the book drop. I'm sitting there not bothering anybody just waiting on the rain to stop. The sheriff comes up says she got a call about me. I told her that they said I was completely fine sitting right here. She got extremely rude and disrespectful would not let me go inside to try and clear this up. She came out saying they want to trespass me. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and then trespassed for doing what the library said I was perfectly fine doing. I am going to contact the civil attorney because I feel I am being harassed and trespassed for absolutely no reason!!! I am mortified let this happen at a library that I've been visiting. Why would you tell somebody he's completely fine sitting outside waiting for the rain to stop and then call the sheriff's to trespass him. That is probably the most evil thing I've ever seen somebody do to somebody

I thought libraries were supposed to be a safe place. I thought law enforcement what's supposed to protect and serve the people. Not in Brevard county and definitely not in Cape Canaveral. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I don't think I've ever been treated not like a human before this...

If you want quiet to study or read, get books and go home! Staff does NOT UNDERSTAND, speaking in a soft voice nor do they tell people to talk softly. I am sitting here trying to concentrate and learn something and their chatting not helping. Oh some homeless person is going through his paper bag making noise, I say something to him then, very annoyed I say something to them, they ask me if I want to move? Seriously!!! Our favorite library on the space coast! Okay I’ve only gone to the one in Cocoa and Suntree. But this one has a craft and coloring pages ready to go on the tables. They have some toys and puzzles for my toddler. It’s always clean, lots of books, nice staff, and is 3 blocks away from the beach. We went down the road east and found Public parking and walked on the beach. It’s such a great library. They even have a great selection of kids movies!
