This was my first time at Hooked, and will definitely be my last. I was in town visiting my friend and we stopped in for dinner after a long day. I couldn’t even drink my first drink because it burned my throat and tasted awful. So I tried a strawberry margarita instead. I wasn’t given an option for it to be frozen or not, and the bartender brought it out himself and said he wanted to watch me taste it himself, and then commented that I was “picky”. He left the table and I tasted the drink, which tasted like straight alcohol and no strawberry taste at all. I had my friend taste both drinks as well, and she agreed. She took the margarita back up to him and explained what the issue was. After saying he knew how to make a margarita, he added more strawberry flavoring to it and she brought it back. This made it at least drinkable. Then our food came. I ordered the filet with au gratin potatoes and green beans. I ordered the steak medium well. It was more like medium rare, and I had to use the light on my phone to show the server that it wasn’t cooked as requested. She apologized and took the steak back to be cooked more. When it was brought back out the outer part of the steak was ok, but the inner part was still undercooked, still red but not bloody. Maybe they didn’t know how to properly cook a thick steak, I don’t know, and there wasn’t a lot of taste to the steak, and the texture of the steak was weird. The potatoes were edible, but were all mashed up and looked like they’d been there a while. We were there at around 730 pm. The green beans were good, but at this point I was just done. I related all this to the server, and asked if the bill could be adjusted due to all the issues. She said she would go ask the owner, and when she came back she said she unfortunately couldn’t take anything off of the bill, but could give me a dessert. I got the chocolate cake (to go), and we left. The bill was $43, and I was thoroughly disappointed and upset about paying this much for a subpar meal. I...
Read moreTook my family for a New Year celebration dinner and was completely disappointed! Uncooked food, poorly cooked, Overcooked, it just kept getting worse! Even the margarita was bad (my first time returning one ever!) No apologies given at the end of the night. The waitress gave up and never came back to the table, sending someone else. I was embarrassed and never even ate dinner. What a fiasco and still cost $225 (plus tip, which I still left 20%). At this point I won't go back. Shame!
UPDATE: I was finally able to reach the owner, Kyle. I wanted to talk to him about our experience. That was a MISTAKE... within the first minute, I could tell what was really wrong with the restaurant. If ownership has this attitude, you have to expect that the staff will too! "The fish rots from the head" He was rude, wouldn't let me speak (kept talking over me), didn't listen at all or have any concern for what I had to say. He was yelling at me, rude, insulting and rather than having a mature conversation, he gaslighted me as if the customer, not the restaurant, was the problem! Obviously this is why the quality isn't what it should be. Somehow, it's our fault for my fish being overcooked and dry, mushrooms that were raw (that were to be stuffed and baked), and a waitress that walked away and never came back! My Mom was sick before we even left the restaurant! The worst part is that this guy, this owner, lied to me and said he watched the video of my table and could see that when I went to check on Mom, my table apologized to the waitress. This DIDN'T HAPPEN! Now he's made this into something personal and not a professional business. This is my family! If there's a video of this, I want to see it, but the whole thing is a lie! Rather than take responsibility and be a mature adult, he's screaming at me, being a bully! So the owners attitude and behavior sucks and it's obviously now spreading to the quality of the product...

I don’t like leaving poor reviews, especially when I can see the effort that is being put into making the overall experience good to very good. I don’t know the proprietor personally but I know people who do, and they say he’s a great standup guy.
Full disclosure: I’ve only been to the 47th Ter location twice. We used to occasionally hang at the Matlacha location before stupid Ian.
To the review proper: I submit that the food quality is a little hit and miss. I’ve been with two parties of six so the range of selections of apps and entrées have been fairly wide, with mixed reviews at the tables.
I’d suggest keeping your food choices simple with their core seafood or American fare.
Atmosphere is very good. The decor is SW FL cool. Last time we were there for dinner the place was jumping and the entertainment was great (Chasing Denver). The music was good/loud and several people were dancing. Drinks were flowing. There were a lot of locals in a good mood and ready to have fun.
Last time the service kind of sucked. Our server was new/clueless. She missed or messed up both food and drink orders. Getting the check was like pulling teeth.
This is the hardest part of the review. My wife had the snow crab clusters. She ate them all and enjoyed them. However 6-8 hours later she was giving them back to the porcelain god. I want to be very careful, I’m not sure exactly what the issue was but it happened and I’m noting it here.
That being said and based on my experiences at this location I’m to give a ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5) rating (better than average for what it’s supposed to be). They have room for improvements in table service and...
