Went to Carneys after the Christmas parade, so obviously expected it to be busy and had no problem with slow service — but this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
First off, the four of us each ordered an entree and we ordered one appetizer. Five minutes later, the waitress came back to tell us they were out of the appetizer (Bavarian pretzels). Not a big deal. Another five minutes go by and she comes back to tell us they are completely out of burgers. My dad says ok and switches to a chicken sandwich. We waited 45 minutes for food to come out and when it does, they bring my dad just a side of chips. The food runner asked what his order was and we said a chicken sandwich and he goes “ok I thought so, but just wanted to be sure. I didn’t have enough room on the tray but I’ll grab it now.” Another 10 minutes go by and our server comes back to ask if everything came out ok. We say no, we haven’t received our full order yet. She goes to check on it, and we wait another 10 minutes. She comes back and says there was a problem with the printer so the kitchen never got the order. By that point, the rest of us are basically done with the meal (my dad insisted we eat because it had been 20+ minutes since they brought the food out). Instead of an apology, the server says “do you still want it?” My dad was shocked so just laughed and said “no thanks that’s ok” and the server says “ok” and walks off. No apology. No compensation. Nothing. Not to mention our water glasses sat empty almost the entire time we were in the restaurant.
I understand being busy and things being hectic, but completely forgetting to bring out 1 of 4 entrees (after being out of the first two things we ordered) and showing absolutely zero consideration for it was shocking. Will never...
Read moreDressed in a celebratory way (for New Years Eve 2024), my destination was - as always - Carney’s, to listen to fine, fine music while the countdown counted…down. Bouncer and friend Joe treated me to a bite of his filet mignon (although this version of Surf and Turf included a crab cake, I’m not a crab - nor do I like it). As the countdown counted down, the count of the population, young and older and in the middle, increased as the clocks ticked, and the supreme bartenders - Tommy; Sean; Taylor; Jen, and other professionals - ran like rabbits to make sure the clientele was served with a smile. By the time the 10, 9, 8 started, all were counting down, and at twelve, the Happy New Years’ chorus - with hugs and kisses galore - ended that part of the evening. It seems as though exiting wasn’t in anyone’s plans. Quite the opposite: more revelers piled in, and by the time I left, I had a thought that sardine cans had more open space (even up to that, I can’t count how many “Excuse me’s” and “Pardon me’s” I said as I piled through the crowd. Everyone was kind, and acquiesced - again with smiles shining. For four and a half years, Carney’s has been my Go To (I mean it was my grandmother’s maiden name), and I couldn’t be more proud and grateful for my friends. Happy New Year!!
But…a chill to the bone winter it will be - Carney’s will be closed from 1/1/2025 to St. Patrick’s Day. Stay tuned on Facebook...
Read moreWe went to dinner here's during the fourth of July weekend and it was an outstanding experience. The bar/ music is on one side and the restaurant was on another side. At no time did the band playing interfere with our ability to converse because of how it is split up. We were seated immediately upon arriving and within minutes our server, Sam, greeted up and took our order. Before we knew it, our food arrived. My wife had the pan seared scallops with broccoli and asparagus over risotto in a cream sauce. I went with a lighter fare of a coobb salad. We started with the bang-bang shrimp. The quality and quantity of the food was exquisite. We look forward to our next visit. The bar offered daily specials as week as special events throughout the week. The Disney Meet and Greet caught caught my eye. This takes place on Thursdays at 6 PM. Check out their website who is there and when. It isn't the...
