King Edward Bar — Restaurant in Cape May

Five stars for great atmosphere, decent beer selection, friendly folks. But (for me) more than anything the kindness and generativeity of the owners for hosting the Howard Street Ramble on Thursday nights. Thank you! More about that: flks, if you are in Cape May (in season - check with the Chalfont - we saw them Oct.6th), this is a can't miss event. Very, very talented musicians jamming on the porch. And although it's free, you should definitely buy some beers/drinks to support the venue and the band...or let me put it this way: when was the last time a band passed the hat and you gave them $30 for you and a friend? I'd be happy to sip and listen to this band every week. Other than the beach, this is the best thing in Cape May. Actually, that's a lie: better than the beach. The building is a beautiful testament to the past; bar itself is dimly lit (not dark) and cozy, bartenders were really friendly, and it's a very nice place to chill with friends. My husband and I looked this place up and tried to go for a drink as it had good reviews. We sat there unwelcome and unattended by two bartenders who ignored us and did not say hello or can I help you for about 10 minutes. It was not busy. A different guest who they knew came up and got helped right away while we were still sitting there so we left. We love Cape May but this was a terrible experience and we wouldn’t recommend it due...

I’ve heard this is a cool bar but it’s often not open according to its hours and even when it is you often can’t figure out how to get a drink. Maybe if you’re staying at the Chalfonte it’s worth trying to get a drink but otherwise there are plenty of places in cape May where you can much more easily exchange money...
