I have been coming to this location almost 2 years now and have noticed a decline in quality recently. There always seems to be a new girl working there whenever I got and it takes forever to complete my order because she does not know what to do or how to ring up the items and the managers and other employees are too busy in the back or working the drive thru window to assist her. This morning was the final straw. I ordered a 12 oz bag of the Brazil Natural and my server, Lauren K refused to let me purchase it. She told me to check the display and if it wasn't already bagged up there then they were out. I know this is not true because Brazil Natural was on the menu for the day. As long as a coffee is on the menu then you can usually get a bag of it to go. They keep the big bags of their coffee under the cabinet. As many times I have been to this location or other ones, I have never run into this issue. When I called Lauren out on it and told her they kept the coffee under the cabinet, she then opened the cabinet where I could see a huge bag of the Brazil Natural, however she then proceeded to lie to me, saying that they were out. Lauren and her manager also told me that they are trying to sell their organic coffee and if the coffee I wanted wasn't organic, then they could not bag it up for me. Well guess what? I don't like the organic coffee. She also lied and said that they have never bagged up coffee for anyone that wasn't on the display. I don't know if they are just too lazy to bag up some coffee or if they are trying to peddle the organic coffee. I will never come back to this location ever again. They lost a regular customer. I went to a different location and got my bag of Brazil. I asked them about the new rule and they said there was no such a thing. I will just drive an extra 2 or 3 miles to the Barclay Commons location where the staff is super friendly and I never run into problems. I don't appreciate...
Read morePort City Java y'all need to hire employees who actually want to work. This location has been going downhill for awhile but since I like to support local, I still go there. Unfortunately today on December 31st was my last time attending or trying to attend your establishment. My family and I showed up at 5pm (closing time wasn't until 6pm) for a drink, and nobody greeted us at the drive through window.l speaker. We waited a few minutes as we saw a lady leave the front door carrying 2 drinks and then asked for help through the drive through window speaker and received no answer. So, thinking the speaker was broken, we drove up to the window, where we saw an employee inside who made eye contact with us and then walked away giggling, ignoring us. She clearly saw us and never came up to help us. We waited a few minutes waiting to see if she'd return but she never did. It's not even close to closing time at this point, so this display of poor customer service was ridiculously immature and incredibly rude. We drove off eventually when it became clearly obvious the girls working didn't want to work and help potential customers. There was nobody else inside so it wasn't due to them being busy. Port City Java, you lost a longtime loyal customer due to young employees who clearly want to get paid for...
Read moreI have been patronizing your Front St. downtown location for the five years I have lived in Wilmington. I've met a few generations of baristas and these wonderful workers usually bring and return smiles with a pleasant confidence. The reason I have no option but to give an overall average rating, even though 90% of my encounters are positive, is Why? Simple. To be an above average or to reach the level of supreme, you must provide this; a consistent top level regular coffee. As above, for flavor, tones, dark through light brews, your coffee is supreme. However, it loses a minimum of 10% due to a simple component, the brewing filter. Whatever you're using, there should be .0001% chance grounds in your coffee. This is ultimately a failure. Something as innocuous as a filter should not be allowed to spoil your coffee.
Steve?, A response would be gratefully appreciated. Keep up the tremendous job your employees deliver day in and day out. Thank you.
