Corchea — Restaurant in Carolina

La Corchea is an acceptable-ish restaurant.

It's very small, which is fine. The atmosphere is comfortable. Tonight there's Spanish music playing from a sound system. They claim to have live music, but I don't know where they'd put them. Outside maybe.

The server was very friendly and helpful. But she didn't check on me very often. So even though the restaurant wasn't busy, I sat for quite a while with an empty drink.

I ordered the Angus Shirt Steak, also called churrasco, medium, with Truffle fries.

The steak was well seasoned and flavorful but served medium rare. Medium rare is fine, but the steak was also luke warm. Really, it was barely warm.

The cook went overboard on the truffle seasoning making the fries very pungent. The meal was served with ketchup and chimichurri. The chimichurri was a little past its prime. The parsley had turned the dull green of three-day-old lawn clippings.

The bar drinks left a little to be desired. One of the drinks I ordered was a Pomegranate Mojito. Mojitos are generally fairly sweet. This one was dry and bitter.

My total bill with tip was about $75.

Over all, I'd recommend Fusion & Sabor Restaurant about 100 feet further down Ave Isla Verde. The chicken with rice and beans that I had last night far surpassed the steak at La Corchea. The atmosphere isn't as modern and cozy. The wait staff was a little less professional. But the food and drinks were significantly more enjoyable.

Edit: You can see Corchea's response below. So, on top of everything mentioned above, it seems their pride and lack of professionalism will prevent them from taking this opportunity to improve. One more reason to choose any of the other nearby...

I would have given this place all 5's across the board. Nice atmosphere, waiter was extremely pleasant. He even assisted me with a delivery order to my Airbnb because I couldn't understand the driver. Service was a little slow and took awhile to get our food but we didn't mind that. The music, weather and all was perfect. The steak bruschetta AMAZING....so delicious that we ordered 4 orders. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. My only complaint was the shrimp and lobster pasta wasn't good to me. The "manager" comes out and tells me he has to charge me anyway because they made it correctly. I never said it wasn't made correctly. It was fishy in my opinion and not good to me. He goes on to say another customer ordered it and they liked it. What does that have to do with me? Some people like certain foods and others do not. He even went on to suggest I didn't even try it because 6 comes in an order and there were 6 still on my plate....when in actuality when they brought it back to me; there were only 5 so I tried it LIKE I SAID! I was extremely pleased with our choice of restaurant for the evening until that transpired. I feel the manager didn't even try to make it right or keep a customer happy. I would have been pleased with half off or something to show that customers are appreciated and valued. They missed the mark and for that I had to deduct accordingly and I will not patronize this establishment again for the remainder of the time that I'm here even though I thoroughly enjoyed every other aspect of...
