Update Feb 23, 2022: We returned to the area after our 7nite Royal Carribean cruise. This is currently our fav restaurant in the area, it's become our daily lunch spot 🤤 Ate here Sun 2/20/2022, my sister & hubby grabbed a table & went to order our foods - we tried the Pastrami $10 (our fav sandwich here = juicy & very flavorful!!), Media Noche $8 (like a slightly smaller Cuban with diff bread), coffee w/milk $2 & couple desserts. We tried to come back on President's Day 2/21/2022 at lunchtime but they were SUPER busy - line outside & inside as well. They limited the # of folks going in.. so we departed to pickup groceries & snacks instead. We returned Tues 2/22/2022 ~3:30PM, found a table & ordered a Pastrami $10, a Media Noche $8 & couple desserts. Delicious! We returned Wed 2/23/2022 ~2PM, we ordered our meals to go. My sister ordered a Pastrami $10 & dessert. I ordered 2 desserts (coconut flan & another the gal behind the counter recommended) & Pastelón $14 aka Puerto Rican plantain lasagna (with salad on the side instead of rice) - I saw several customers ordering/eating it the day before & 1 of the english speaking customers in line with me said it was was 1 of his favorite dishes here. Different & delicious! We plan to come tomorrow for lunch after we check-out of our rental apt.. before heading to the airport to catch our flight back home to the states. 👍👍 === 3 of us came for lunch - I ordered 3 diff dishes for us all to split & share. Fast service. Portions are HUGE - we were stuffed.. could've easily shared 2 dishes 😂. We plan to come back to try some pastries.. lots of cakes & pastries display windows 🤤 1. Caldo Gallego $12 (picked the grande size - the soup comes with 3 slices of garlic bread) 2. Cuban sandwich $10 (cashier lady said the Media Noche has same meats but different thinner yellow bread.. like a smaller version of the Cuban) 3. Bistec sandwich $10 (cashier lady said this was her favorite & it's what she always gets) 4. Tall Coke can or bottle of Water $2 each Cuban sandwich is super meaty & delicious - even better dipped in the Caldo Gallego as au jus. Caldo Gallego is super meaty & the broth is rich.. garlic bread is crunchy, garlicky & hits the spot. Bistec sandwich was meaty as well & good.

If we had to pick one restaurant in the San Juan area to go to, Panaderia España would be where we would choose to go. The food is great and the service is excellent. We trusted them with our Christmas dinner this year - a paella big enough to feed 13 people, among other items. The paella was ready to go on Christmas Eve day at precisely the time agreed upon, and all of it was fresh and hot. No one at our house was disappointed. At the restaurant, the atmosphere is very friendly and social; the seating is communal, European stye. So you may find yourself making new friends among the regulars who frequent the place! If that’s not enough to get you curious - the last time we ate lunch there, I made it all the way home before realizing that I had lost my wallet. After a frantic search of my vehicle, I called the restaurant to see if anyone had turned it in. Incredibly, the valet found my wallet in the parking lot (I had dropped it while getting into my vehicle). He gave it to the cashier, and when I returned I found ALL of the contents (ID’s, credit cards, and CASH) in place.

On vacation we were looking for a breakfast spot and McDonald's was a 2-hour walk. We found this spot that was a 15-minute walk from our room. It had its challenges we did have to cross the highway but there was a overhead tunnel. We were definitely safe and we made it in the time the GPS said. When we got there the parking situation was crazy, if you're driving. That place is so delicious that it is constantly busy. I will say it was hard trying to get someone's attention because there's so many people there. But as long as you know where the line begins and where the line ends you'll be good. The pastries came out delicious and it was somewhat difficult to order it but we got it done. And yes they speak English if needed. Menus are in Spanish. The food from the restaurant part was delicious. Definitely recommend to everybody going to Puerto Rico every morning breakfast, lunch or dinner. 15/10👏🏽 We order the tostada con queso, a Cuban sandwich, and a pernil sandwich. Along with sorts of pastries. We will definitely be back next time we're here!!

It was kind of a free for all in here in terms of trying to get some pastries. I came in specifically for the tres leches and it did not disappoint. The only issue was the lady at the counter didn't speak English or Spanish, so it took a long while trying to ask for the tres leches. Finally she understood and we got that and another treat that is like a layered croissant with some sort of passion fruit jam and powdered sugar. It was very very delicious. This may have been the best tres leches we have ever had. Moist, but not falling apart. Sweet, but not overly. Really a delicious bakery and they know what they are doing. Parking was busy but we were able to find a spot. They also have a drive thru if you know what you want. The food itself looked good, but we only ordered from the bakery side.
