Morena Bistro Bar — Restaurant in Carolina

We went here for dinner on our last night in town. We were the last patrons to enter the restaurant. There were 3 other tables who already were eating and then leaving. It took over an hour for us to receive our order. Slow service is understandable but we were the only ones in the restaurant. Granted it was a party of 11 but nothing we ordered should’ve taken over an hour. We were told the kitchen staff was one. So we waited patiently. We were never told our food would be out soon, sorry for the wait absolutely nothing. The server never check on us.

Upon receiving our food, the sampler was incorrect. Instead of telling us they were out of a specific item. They simply added something else to it. That item being Chicken Wings instead of the mac and cheese bites. Typically I wouldn’t mind but I already ordered wings. So now I’ve paid for wings and then also received them on a sampler that I didn’t anticipate them being on. To top things off we ordered CORN FRITTERS, upon receiving them they didn’t appear to be corn fritters. We put our trust in what we ordered and the waitress seemed trustworthy so we tried them out and allowed our daughter to try one. Well they were in fact COD FRITTERS and my daughter is deathly allergic to fish. Fortunately for us so took a small bite and was mainly breading and she didn’t have a reaction. But we could’ve potentially been spending the night at the ER. Overall the lack of communication, nearly killing my kid and serving us food we didn’t order is why this place gets 1 star. Josué is a rude. I pulled over into the parking lot next to the restaurant which is a dispensary. I had spilled my drink on my clothes and in my car so I pulled over and parked in the dispensary parking spot to clean myself off. The parking lot was not even halfway full and there was no traffic coming in or out of the lot. There was plenty of parking. Josue came running out of the restaurant and said I couldn’t park there. I explained to him that I was just cleaning myself off because I had just spilled my drink on my clothes. I also let him know I wasn’t even parked in the restaurant’s parking spot. He said he didn’t care and that the parking lot belonged to the restaurant and I wasn’t allowed to park there unless I was dining at the restaurant since the dispensary was closed. I told him to chill and that I wouldn’t be more than 5 minutes. He stood behind my car the whole time badgering me while I was cleaning myself off. Dude has some real serious issues to run outside to harass someone like that they can see is just obviously cleaning themselves off. Where is the courtesy. Horrible representation of the restaurant. I previously visited this restaurant in Summer 2023 and raved about it to my friends/family whom I was traveling with recently. Unfortunately, I had to eat my words because the service and food this time around were very disappointing. My advice, the staff need to be better trained. The customer service was terrible and a bit careless. Because of that we chose to leave before ordering our drinks and entrees, but not without paying for food that we didn't eat. Their lack of care cost the business at least $200+ in sales because we didn't feel comfortable ordering more food/drinks and actually getting what we ordered.

Example. I ordered the Morena Sampler Platter (specifically for the wings and the mac and cheese bites). When the food came out, no wings and no mac and cheese bites. When we asked why the changes, he said that he "forgot" to tell us they didn't have those things available. Okay, accidents happen but they took it upon themselves to substitute the items with pork products. People have dietary restrictions due to religion and allergies and simply "forgetting" to communicate could be even more costly to a restaurant such as this.
