Just want to say things started of really well. The beer was delicious especially the 6th & 7th anniversary. We had grilled artichokes & Salsa with Guacamole appetizers we had where good no complaints. Service to this point was really good and I was really impressed with the attention the server showed. We then ordered the main dishes for the table. We had the Sourdough Jalapeño Burger, Happy Hour Cheeseburger, & Blackened Fish Sandwich of the day. This is where things turned for our experience. After we ordered our food we where asked if we could move to a high top to accommodate a large group. We did not mind moving since we only had to move our drinks with us a short distance. Then our service went down hill from there due to his attention to the large group. Two of the three dishes came out and the server mentioned that they accidentally made a kids burger for the jalapeno burger and just added two patty's. We asked if this was the correct burger because the patty's looked like a premade overcooked burger dry and looked horrible. He just ignored our concern and went away quickly. The Happy Hour burger got to the table late after the others where eating. This burger was a disappointment as well burger patty was something you would get from a service station. The fish sandwich was fine. Asher was good at the start and then fell fast. What was even worse is I went to the patio and saw other peoples burgers and they looked amazing. I can only think that you use a substandard burger patty for happy hour & they used it on the $18 Sourdough Jalapeno Burger. Look at the photos unfortunately I did not get a photo of the happy hour burger but it was nothing like what they have posted on the website. I forgot to mention do not upgrade to the cold Parmesan Garlic Fries $3.00. The sad part is the other food I saw served looks outstanding I asked others about there burgers. I do wish a manager was available. The Server said...
Read moreLooking for plant-based, vegan food to go with some good beer?
Look elsewhere, unfortunately.
While the beer is good, I was surprised to find such a limited number of plant-based menu items. Especially in such a hip Southern California restaurant. There is a vegan salad but 1. It's so simple, it can be made at home and 2. There's so many tasty plant-based foods out now, it seems unimaginative to only offer a salad.
The crispy cauliflower bites, a vegan staple in many restaurants, are not plant-based. They contain egg according to the waiter and chef.
And while the sweet potato fries and regular fries were good, I'm not sure if they were plant-based.
I ordered the veggie burger, and again, I'm not sure if there was egg in it. I asked for avocado instead of hummus on it and it arrived without either. I felt bad by that point asking for the issue to be fixed, so I added ketchup and it got the job done.
Everything put in front of us also came with Ranch dressing, which for someone who doesn't eat dairy, seemed wasteful.
The atmosphere is nice though, and it's clean. And the service is timely. I may visit again, but only for the beer until they up their plant-based and vegan game...
Read moreHave been going to Rincon in Carpenteria since they opened. Their food was phenomenal for so long. Sadly the last 3 times I have eaten there the food has definitely gone down hill. I always order the bone-in buffalo wings - some of my favorite wings ever. The last few times they have been overcooked and somewhat dry. It was always great that they served rainbow carrots alongside the wings. This last time the carrots were old and woody - embarrassing to put on a plate. I ordered blackened shrimp tacos. The plate comes with three very tiny tortillas with 3 small shrimp on each. The shrimp were flavorless and slightly fishy and definitely not blackened - more like an anemic sauté. The cup of clam chowder was gelatinous stew. Flour-ey taste with not much evidence of clams. The place is also suffering from staffing issues and rising costs of goods I am sure. But this is a top down problem. If management/ownership doesn't address issues then one certainly can't expect the staff to address the problems. Patrons become repeat customers because of a consistent experience - sadly my recent experiences have been anything but. The beer is really...
