One of my friends asked me to drop by here since I’ve been delving into baking more Asian items. I was forewarned that when I went that there may be a huge line. Fortunately, when I was there around 6:00 PM, I didn’t encounter a huge line. As soon as I entered the shop, I noticed a small seating area to the right and several displays of baked goods to the left. There were a set of trays you could grab to place the baked goods on for easier transport. I was able to walk through the displays and noted that each of the items had a short display of ingredients as well as what they were, which was helpful. Very few displays were empty and I did see one employee restocking some displays during my short visit there.
I ended up grabbing four items total - two of which were recommended by my friend. I grabbed a Premium Milk (ribbon-shaped), Marble Taro (white bun with taro filling), Milk Pudding (bun filled with custard), and an egg tart (two tarts in a box). The Premium Milk had pieces of white chocolate and a thin layer of custard in the pastry. Not sure if this is how it’s supposed to be, but I could smell hints of egg as I was eating it. I was unsure if this was due to an egg wash or if the pastry had some egg layers. The Marble Taro was this big fluffy white bun filled with a generous amount of taro. It wasn’t very sweet either. The Milk Pudding was served in a muffin liner and was very soft and pillowy. When I tore it in half there was this vanilla custard in the middle that tasted absolutely divine. The egg tarts were in a small aluminum pie tray, and they were tasty. I could tell that there was a lot of butter in the crust. The custard was well set and didn’t fall out when I bit into it.
All the items were reasonably priced. My favorite had to be the Marble Taro and Milk Pudding. I plan to go again to...
Read moreI am horribly disappointed in the customer service experience I received today from this establishment. I love 85 degrees. Every year they come out with a strawberry de leche drink. I walked up to the counter and found 3 of the associates huddled toward the entrance to their kitchen door. I didn’t mind cause I understand they may have had a rush or something and just was trying to have a small little moment together. It did make the atmosphere seem very cliquey though. As if they weren’t willing to serve you and just wanted to be with themselves. One of them was working on something and the other two chatted. Thankfully once one of them saw me, they walked toward me. I decided to place my order however today I wanted light ice because my teeth are sensitive to ice. I didn’t mind if they didn’t fill it to the top or anything, just to be mindful… however the woman in the front proceeded to go, “I can’t do that. It’s a blended drink.” It’s not a blended drink. It does not require a blender. I felt I had misheard her, since this is a drink I regularly get, and I repeated her words, because I find active listening important. I went, “blended drink?” To which she then decided to explain what that meant to me, like I was stupid. “Yes a drink that needs to be in a blender with ice? We can’t control how much ice.” And I was offended however this is a seasonal drink and I usually get it because it’s something me and my mom would enjoy when she lived near me. So I got it. And not one time was a blender used. Thankfully I was given my drink with an appropriate amount of ice! So kudos to whomever made my drink. However I hate that I was belittled and treated like that. Her attitude hurt my feelings. Come here for nice bakery items and food. DO NOT COME if you want respect and...
Read more85 Bakery has some of my favorite pastries, treats, and slushes. I always stop by this location whenever I’m in the Carrollton area!
This is a great location. It’s in the corner of a strip mall right next to the Daiso and a lot of other good spots I love to go to, and has a lovely and relaxing patio area with seating outside of it. The interior is spacious and very clean, with white counters and containers for the different baked goods and pastries.
I LOVE the berry tart here!!! It’s one of my favorite little treats to treat myself with whenever I have time to come over here and grab some! There’s a lot of other savory and sweet options as well, such as some snacks that are like kolaches and a lot of different bread, cheesecake, and other pastry options. I also love the potato croquettes, which they’ve been having a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal on for the last month. Another favorite of mine on the drinks menu is the mango slush. It is a pretty reasonable price and comes with a good amount - I’m usually able to share it and still have more than enough! It has a great texture to it - not too liquidy and not too solid that it’s hard to slurp up with the straw! Definitely one of my favorite slushes, anywhere!
I love 85 Bakery! The food and drinks are reasonably priced, they all taste great, and the interiors are always very clean and have a minimalist aesthetic that appeals to me. I go every time I’m in the area. It’s a...
