Authentic, delicious, fun, and a memorable experience — This is my first time trying authentic Jokbal (pig’s trotters) and BoSsam (steamed pork belly). Don’t let the descriptions deter you, these are quite healthy dishes eaten by many for beauty or weight loss! Jokbal, flavorful and chewy on the edge, is a delicious way to get natural collagen and elastin for the ladies. BoSsam is best eaten wrapped in lettuce with a slice of garlic, green pepper, soybean paste sauce, radish and kimchi. Dynamic flavour, contrasting texture in one bite - highly recommend trying. Steamed too, and all healthy ingredients. The potato and pork soup (GamJa Tang) is a popular dish; lots of flavours that end with a spicy finish. Hard to stop after starting. Last but not least, have fun trying different ways to enjoy soju — pure and straight, somaek (with beer), and with lime. Friendly staffs. The first time I came here, there was a winter storm, and I had just driven back into Dallas on icy roads. My partner and I were cold and hungry, and even though most restaurants and stores were closed due to the freezing weather, Jang Choong Dong was still open. They were so kind to stay open, and the piping hot soups were amazing and warmed us up. We came back again to try the jokbal, bossam, and sundae. All of it was phenomenal. Admittedly, I am Taiwanese and not Korean so I’m not an expert, but I really enjoyed everything and would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious meaty meals. I think it was a great value. There were enough leftovers for both of us to eat for lunch the next day. The restaurant inside is small but has very nice cozy vibes. From the outside would think that the place would be large. Once inside, be surprised that it’s really not that big at all. Temperature check is required! They also have hand sanitizer to sanitize your hands. Order the pork belly platter and the bbq ribs, which included kimchi, ggacttugi, namul, onion pickles, chopped garlic , ssanjang and jalapeños. The soup was a little too salty for me. For what ever reason I could not stop eating the onion pickles, I guess it brought back some old childhood memories when my grandmother made pickled onions.
