Just got back from an impromptu dinner out. So glad we went to Piazza. Since the sun had set, the weather had cooled down so we elected to sit outside and people watch. Lovely, cozy atmosphere outside; peeking inside looks equally pleasant. Since the evening was a gentle warmth, lots of people strolling by, greeting folks, kids playing on the plaza and the stage.... a strong sense of relaxed community. Atmosphere was good now the food: Excellent. I had spinach salad with a lovely, light vinaigrette, eggs and crisped pancetta..Loved it. Split a mini loaf of fantastic sourdough bread..beautiful crust, and perfect firm, chewy and soft inside. Husband had the Sicilian style pizza on a homemade flat bread. I'm not a pizza fan but he loved it.... I had a bite but husband had polluted it asking for w/ anchoives (an extra they added for him so he was very happy... not many restaurants do anchoivies .... a crime in my husband's view). Now the dessert. FANTASTIC. I had the creme brûlée . The best I've had EVER at a restaurant. The best I had in YEARS. Which I said out loud just as the chef himself - Dan - came walking by.... Of course he stopped and we chatted. Must have been fun for him to witness a customer's spontaneous happy response to his work. Fun to chat with him about his recipe; told us it's his favorite dessert to make and he's been working on perfecting it a while... I think he's probably achieved perfection: creamy, lightly sweet body - and cold. And the carmelized topping was amazing..... just the right amount of crusty without being too hard or thick. A pure delight. Husband had the cheesecake. The only cheesecake he likes is the one my daughter developed over the years. Like hers, this is a baked cheese cake.... and - again - the perfect consistency, perfectly lightly sweet not the overwhelming, nothing but sugar most cheesecakes seem to be. Served with a raspberry topping full of delicate flavor and a touch of fruity acid. Husband loved it and said it was almost as good as the one our daughter bakes... Great service by Lori who had a great sense of humor and made sure we had everything we needed...brought us a couple of taster shots of beer so my husband could have the one he liked. Really fast service even though she warned us they were running backlogged..... Highly recommend. Don't tell anyone else though. I'd hate to have to wait to eat there. On second thought, I'd hate to lose yet another restaurant in Carson so go ahead - try it out then go and rave to your...
Read moreINCREDIBLE! Tonight we decided to have our group of 5 go to Piazza for dinner. We are locals and try many restaurants in the area and feel that they always fall short of expectations for the quality/taste of food, atmosphere, service and price. Piazza has it all! We have been here before for wine and charcuterie boards on the patio, but not for dinner. What a wonderful experience! Great cocktails and wine to start. We ordered the chicken piccata, short ribs, meatballs, salads and French press coffee and delicious desserts. All of the flavors and quality were great! Decor and atmosphere is so comfortable and cozy. Heidi was our server and she was so sweet, efficient and accommodating, and Grace made sure we were welcomed with a smile and had a good experience. Kudos to the chef, so good! Your sauces and flavors are bomb! Prices are very reasonable and truly, nothing negative I can say about our evening. We will definitely be back! You just have to try this little gem, you will not be...
Read moreI came here and ordered the Piazza Lamb Pops which is listed as an entree. If you were to look up the definition of an entree I would have a hard time believing that whoever runs this restaurant could consider the Piazza Lamb Pops to be anything more than an appetizer.
The lamb pops came garnished with canned tangerines over a handful of spring mix salad leaves. I will give it to the chef they were actually medium rare but this is praising the bare minimum at this point (at no fault of the chef).
Lamb is not a very expensive meat, so charging $25 I would expect to actually be served a main coarse meal (as an entree is defined). I cant imagine adding some mashed potatoes or veggies would bankrupt this over priced venue.
This was my first, and last, experience here. I can say this place gives off some major boomer vibes; so if you're looking for good value or more than 15 grams of protein in a $25 entree,...
