I went in on a Saturday for a late lunch with my family. The menu is lovely, meats sourced from our local ranchers, which I appreciate.
The decor is relaxing and comfortable. The staff is very professional and attentive.
The food, though, is where they shine. My children both got the "Italian Stallion" sandwich with fries. The fries are thin-cut, cooked to the ideal crispness, then treated to a garlic shower and I LOVED them. Everyone at the table agreed that the fries are perfection.
The sandwich is great; a nice layer of heat, very fresh ingredients, and plated beautifully.
I had the veggie panini, without a doubt the best vegetarian sandwich I've ever had. It was generous and filled with fresh basil.
The biggest star was the Borda ranch lamb rigatoni. I would probably do highly unethical things to get that recipe. The green olives in the ragu add brightness to the tender chunks of lamb, and the pasta itself is perfectly made to work with the ragu, as opposed to places that use a flavorless pasta that just acts as a carrier for the sauce.
I was a little less impressed with the appetizer salami plate. The bread was a bit past toasted, one piece was clearly burned. The meats themselves were good quality, but I wouldn't order that dish again.
Cucina Lupo feels, to me, like a labor of love from a great chef, they just need time to get their sea legs. The staff are attentive and polite, but seem anxious. I hope they can relax and have some...
Read moreWell I found this little hidden gem in the heart of Carson City. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. starting with the entrance, walking up the dimly lighted paved street to the single man band on the patio, I was hooked! The place is beautiful with options for indoor and outdoor dining they are sure to please any guests. I sat at the bar and it seemed like a lively atmosphere with plenty of drinks going around and people having an amazing time. I was in good company for sure each employee helped me while I was there and was very attentive to any of my needs. Now let's talk about the food this food was definitely crafted by a chef who takes pride in their food. To start they serve a beautiful focaccia bread from what I understand is made right here in Carson City to the awesome specialized drinks I saw garnishes of cotton candy special little Mariana cherries you could tell it was all created with uniqueness in mind. At the end I tried the gluten-free chocolate cake in no way did I think this was healthy for me at all it was absolutely delicious the texture perfect. If you know about flourless cakes very hard to do. This dessert was served with a vanilla bean ice cream on a bed of cookies and a beautiful cherry sauce. Does this chef know how to cook a sauce heck yeah. Thank you for the experience don't ever change and may your doors...
Read moreDelicious Italian, wonderful cocktails, nice selection of wines, super tasty deserts and all within a charming downtown restaurant with fabulous friendly service! Yes, my wife and I really enjoy Cucina Lupo that much and we make it a point to dine here often, in spite of the fact that there are other enjoyable Italian restaurants in the area. I should note that it can get busy on a weekend but we always sit at the bar as there's typically space available and always make it a point to order up a Picon Punch, especially if Katrina is bartending. If you're into bourbons, they have a fine selection of them as well including one of our favorites, Frey Ranch which is also a local distillery. As far as food goes, my wife ordered lasagna and I had their risotto with chicken cutlet, both of which were specials and we also had the awesome Burrata as an appetizer. Of course, we made sure to leave room for desert and split the Carmel Budino which is simply scrumptious! With that said, we've had lots of other plates from the menu including the chicken piccata, chicken parmigiana, lobster mac 'n' cheese and more and all have been great. I honestly think you'll enjoy this place as...
