Bottom line, it's currently our favorite Mexican place in town. Why? It hits all the major components. 1: Great service! Been here maybe 17-20x in 8 months and maybe only 1-2 visits service was slow, but by no means horrible. Rosie and others are very kind and genuine, which makes the visit that much better. 2: Consistently good, doesn't really deviate ever, huge plus, even the Ice tea and water taste good there, haha. 3: Value. They have very competitive pricing and I'd say more than fair. I don't feel cheated here ever unless it's like a side of sour cream or something, that's a bit much. They even offer smaller portion size combos which are enough food for most for even better pricing. Yes, noticed the price has gone up a tad recently, however many shops are doing similar it seems to help with covid. 4: Cleanliness. Never had a problem, maybe once or twice table wasn't perfect. No prob! 5: All the basics are solid. Example...Rice and beans are perfect. Chips and salsa always fresh, nearly always. 6: Their top shelf margarita is indeed tasty and worth the money, highly recommend. Only things they can do better? I'd offer another salsa or two to cater to more folks, and more blended too. One that's much hotter too. Looking forward to doing some to go orders soon. Sorry, no photos, I normally dig in way too quickly! Note: we haven't tried lots of things here, normally stick to chimis, enchiladas, burritos and street tacos, can't comment on...
Read moreCame here on a whim. We actually wanted try the paul schats deli next door, to see if it is comparable to the one in bishop ca. Unfortunately the deli was closed. So we decided to try don chepes. I ordered a regular burrito and my wife ordered the super burrito both asada type meat, plus we ordered a asada pupusa to split. The burritos had decent flavor, it seemed like the restaurant was on its way to receive a 5 star review, that was until I got to the last bite of my burrito. At the bottom of the burrito was a giant chunk of gristle meat. It was inedible, kind of like chewing on a boot strap. The pupusa wasn't good at all. It took them about 15 minutes after we finished our burritos to bring us the pupusa, which was filled with cheese no beans and one small piece of asada, it was also very soggy it tasted like fluffy soggy quesadilla. I don't know if this restaurant is going for El Salvadorian/Mexican kinda vibe, but that pupusa definitely was not authentic, every pupusa I have had comes with beans and cheese inside standard, meat upon request and not just one small piece of meat. The chips and bean dip were the best items, the red salsa tasted like it was all tomatoes no flavor. I doubt we will be coming here again. Would have rather went to Alfonso hole in the wall on hwy 50 in carson. Plus they charge $2.00 extra for...
Read moreI hate to badly review any business but...OK, my husband and I were in town for a mini honeymoon. We had a taste for Mexican food and googled some places local to our hotel. We found Francisco's and saw the great reviews! My husband order the today's special which was an assortment of enchiladas and I ordered a Mexican food favorite of mine, chicken & shrimp fajitas. I've had fajitas from several establishments including a drive-thru fast food Mexican restaurant in WA state! They were ALL better than the ones I had yesterday at Francisco's! These had to be the worse fajitas I ever had. I couldn't even finish them and I hate wasting food! The chicken was dry and tasted old, the shrimp tasted spoiled there was some kind of sweet and sour taste to the whole thing that just wasn't pleasant! My husband let me have some of his enchiladas, which were delicious. I wish I had ordered that instead. I'm not trying to deter anyone from this place. I'm just sharing...
