LINE DANCING AT THE SWAN… BEWARE!!
I am here in Carson City visiting my family. It was my idea to try the line dancing because I saw it advertised while we were having lunch there. I don’t recall seeing a price for admission anywhere. We showed up excited and were impressed with the dancing and instruction. A very kind young lady greeted us and it was clear she was checking people in. She had amazing customer service and told us that there was probably one more lesson left (we arrived around 8, it goes from 6-9) and how the night usually works. We asked if we needed to pay and were told that because it was later and it was our first time we didn’t need to pay this time, but it was $10/person for next time and it would be nice to go get some drinks etc. she never mentioned anything about a wristband. We got our drinks, danced the two or three dances we could and then out of no where, there were a couple of folks that started targeting someone in our group saying, and what quickly became yelling, that we needed to pay and accusing us of sneaking in. It escalated to the drunk old lady slapping the hand of the person in our party. This person who the drunk lady chose to slap just happens to be a very well known attorney in Carson City. This drunk woman will probably never know how fortunate she is that the high road was taken and the cops weren’t called and she doesn’t have a battery charge against her. Her behavior, as well as others, including her husband, was absolutely unacceptable. It seemed like there was no real manager on duty, or anyone to rectify the situation as the scene lasted way too long and escalated quickly. We paid our $40 and left to stares and verbal “good byes” from complete strangers. It’s really quite sad. The kind lady who was checking people in was the best one in that place! She had great customer service and a warm friendly welcome. Unfortunately, she was the only one. I would have to suggest to stay away. It is not a friendly environment… at least the line dancing is not. You just might...
Read moreMy husband and I took the time to drive in from Sparks to listen to their live musician, who is incredible. Please continue to book him! The meals that we ordered this time were to our liking, however I became undelighted because a large fly was circling my plate, drink, and side of ranch dressing. I was trying my best to swat it away before it made contact with my meal, however it landed in my ranch dressing. Gross. I asked the server for a new dressing and told her why...she doesnt apologize or seem very concerned that a health code violation has just occurred. All she said was "that's gross. He's still alive though!"....how is that supposed to make me feel better? Lmao...I have several years of food and beverage service under my belt and that was definitely an underreaction. The manager was never notified.
I'm also disappointed because I ordered a cocktail that tasted watered down or had flat Sprite. I asked if I could get another one and it was still no good, but I guess the mostly full glass wasn't a good enough indicator to ask if my drink was any better or not. I am not the really the type to complain in a restaurant, as stated above, I've worn the shoes although if the owner wants a successful business, I suggest addressing the staff on how to be more proactive with a less than dismayed customer.
I do want to end this review on a positive note though: the atmosphere of thelis restaurant is very welcoming and I am pleased to hear that Carson City finally has a "hip" place to hang out now for folk of...
Read moreWell let's get into it. The serving size of the beer was the most impressive thing about this establishment. I ordered the chicken and waffles which would imply that there was multiple pieces of chicken and multiple waffles. Instead it was 1 chicken breast cut in 2 pieces fried to a DARK brown, not golden brown as you would imagine but more like a old dirty leather boot brown. There was half a waffle that was cut in half again to make up the "waffles" portion of this order and was rather disappointing. The season was "Nashville fried chicken" but if thay was Nashvilles finest I'd stay away! The waitress was great and quick with the order and food without a doubt so there's the one redeeming star and the second was the atmosphere of the restaurant. End of the day I paid over 21 dollars for half portions of a meal without a beverage...I wound up going to eat elsewhere after due to the absolute sad portion of food I received. Go for a beer or a snack. But DO NOT expect a full meal. Hopefully in the future they figure that out and then I may give them another shot. But after this I'm a 1 and done here. Sad too because I was really looking forward to this place being a good one.
Post Edit: The most passive aggressive response ive EVER seen from a business. Apparently they have it figured out and have no need to grow more or even improve. Reality is this...while a decent atmosphere does help. It DOESN'T make up for poor ownership and even worse customer...
