Here we are again, this time in Cartersville, Ga. The wife and I decided to give this place a go and man, we're glad we did. Where to begin, my head just keeps bouncin from one aspect to another. Ok,ok, I'll try to tone this down and begin. The staff were absolutely great! They made sure and triple, quad-triple- double checked we had whatever we needed. The sweet tea is right there with your mama's. It is off the chain! The food, oh dear God, the food was excellent as far as breakfast goes but the helpings made IHOP look weak and Cracker Barrel jealous. The biscuits were the size of softballs, the grits were creamy and cheeeesy. My wife's biscuits and gravy was enough to serve 2 people or one hungry lumberjack. This place is liken to a "greasy spoon" from the 50's but much nicer decor. It seems like this could have been a house at one time before downtown Cartersville was built up or during. Either way, seating is limited from what we saw but there is enough room for say, 25-30 guests?! I will say this, the only drawback, the guests are the rude ones in here. They'll jump in front of you quicker than getting stung by a bee to pay or bump you out of the way just to make it to the bathroom. The prices are on a bit of the high side but the portions well make up for it. Still, if you are in Cartersville and find yourself hangry, not just, meh hungry. Go give the rooster shack a try, you won't be disappointed. Your wallet my curse you but your stomach...
Read moreThe food was ok, but after hearing from folks, I know how they seemingly don't give a crap about customers (the proof is in the responses to the "negative" reviews. Good luck with that attitude in this economy. Perhaps they think they have such a huge repeat customer base, and people will go to them no matter what like they have a monopoly on breakfast restaurants. If that's the case, they'll learn. When you have average food and don't have a menu item that people will fight over, customer service should probably be decent to good. Idk what their deal is. Seems pretty easy to say, "Yeah, those potatoes were clearly undercooked, so here's a fresh batch or a future credit." I know 7 people who stopped going because of these issues. I'm number 8... but apparently, they don't care. Maybe they're already super rich or read a book that told em treating your customers like crap makes them like you more. Lol. Oh, sorry, a review about the food. The restaurant itself was clean and nice looking.. Overall, the food and atmosphere were OK, but the competition within just 5 square miles is pretty steep. *If they reply to this, it'll probably be something like, "Good, we don't want your business...
Read moreWe like to think of ourselves as foodies on a budget. That also usually means we think that we have gone to every little family owned restaurant in the area that’s worth it, because we would have heard about it by now.
We were wrong.
My boyfriend’s biggest complaint? “This is the best corned beef hash I’ve ever had in my life, and I’m sad I’m only just finding out about this place.”
I decided to get a plain ol’ chicken biscuit…and it did NOT disappoint. It was far from plain. The biscuit melted in your mouth, the fried chicken was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, juicy but crispy.
He had the corned beef hash platter, with “Rooster Chips”, which, I don’t know if they make those in house but those were some of the best, most well seasoned hash brown rounds we’ve ever had.
We got out of there before tip at less than $25 and were STUFFED. HIGHLY...
