Horrible establishment. Do not waste your time. I have never written a bad review, although I want to warn everyone else. The restaurant has a nice design and was clean. That was the only positive thing about my experience.
My family and I (party of 19) decided to celebrate a wedding engagement at their facility and were all left displeased. It was expected to be a bit of a wait for all of our meals, although two of our meals didn't ever come out which took even more time to wait on them once we mentioned it. The staff was not accommodating to our needs regardless of the place being near empty. The food was nothing to be excited about, either. Not authentic Indian/Pakistani food as it was bland. One of the children ordered a glass of milk and that was an additional $6! Double the amount of an entire gallon! We were also charged for extra meals we didn't even order. When we noticed and called in the manager merely offered a refund of that one item. Typically the manager should be apologetic and welcoming the guest in for a complimentary dessert or some coupon to make up for their mistake, among many.
Lastly, one of our family members went back to visit and give the place another chance. After waiting a ridiculous amount of time to be seated plus wait on his meal he decided to take it to go. As he waited for his meal (which took over an hour) he saw a server pouring a glass of wine to the people sitting next to him. This restaurant is run by a Muslim family. For many people alcohol is not a problem, but as practicing Muslims we expect there to not be any alcohol served. And to top it all off he got home to sit down and eat and noticed he didn't receive one item he had paid for. We definitely will not be returning as there are many other restaurants in the area that exceed Kababish...
Read moreThis is a tough review to write as part of my experience was 5-star and other parts were 2-star at best. 5-star: The folks who run the restaurant are so incredibly nice and just wonderful people. They clearly love their restaurant and are great hosts to their customers! 3-star: The food was mediocre. I have eaten at nearly every Indian food restaurant in the Durham-Morrisville-Cary area and I would rank the quality of the food here near the bottom of the list. Just to be clear, I have traveled to India a number of times so I do have the ability to judge based on comparison to authentic cuisine. Beyond taste, which was rather bland for Indian cuisine, the serving sizes were small for the price, making it difficult to share. 2-star: The seating (in the booths at least) was awful. The booth was tiny, crammed, and every time the person in the booth behind ours would readjust, I could feel his back digging into mine! Seriously, the worst booth-sitting experience I've ever had. So, if you go, ask for a table with chairs. I didn't perform any sophisticated averaging here to arrive at an overall of 4-stars, but I guess I figured that I would be willing to give the place another shot if I'm ever nearby; I'll ask for a table with chairs and I'll explore a bit more of the menu to give the chef the benefit of the doubt that perhaps I happened on a night when things weren't going as well as usual in...
Read moreWe came here on Friday afternoon for lunch with my son and daughter. We ordered Chicken 65 as an appetizer, and chicken biryani and paya with naan. My son didn’t eat much but he said the paya was really good and the chicken 65 was okay. For my daughter, we ordered the biryani as low of a spice level as possible so that she could eat it. The biryani we got was soo good she almost over ate!! She insisted we order another biryani to go so she could eat it for dinner too. So we asked them to pack a chicken biryani with the same spice level as the one we’d just been served and we also packed the remaining biryani and paya. When we got home she finished the remaining biryani and very much enjoyed it!! However, when she opened the 2nd pack of biryani we had ordered to go for dinner, she had a VERYY hard time eating it as she said it was too spicy for her. When we tried it, we too agreed it was too spicy for her. In the end she still managed to finish it ( with the help of a lot of dahi). She was very sad that the biryani she ate during lunch with such gusto became so difficult for her to eat during dinner. I hope that the staff takes care from next time to note down customer preferences more accurately so that such incidents don’t happen again. Besides this incident, the rest of the food was great and I will probably return here...
