I would not call Serendipity Gourmet "gourmet." Walking around before work, I decided to grab a quick sandwich. I went with the build your own sandwich and got a turkey on pumpernickel bread. The sandwich came out quickly, and since it was so nice outside, I decided to grab a seat outside. Once I opened my box, I was sad to see not only my sandwich was just thrown in there, but no condiments to be seen. So, I went back and got a couple of packets of mustard and mayo. My return to the restaurant did not go unnoticed with the lack of smiles and three frowns from the staff members. When I asked for a knife, I did not receive any warmth as well.
As I continued to eat my sandwich, I noticed even more lack of care as the tomatoes I requested not to be there were there. And even with the condiments added, the sandwich was just not good. For $11, especially, the quality of meats and toppings are just not there, which is sad because there are not many grab and go places in this area.
For the future, I will make sure to either bring my own food for or budget enough time to sit down and eat at another restaurant. The lack of care and poor customer service is a big red flag. I just did not feel welcome. I...
Read moreStopped here for a late lunch today. Arrived at 2:15 with a closing time of 3pm. Three of us sat down for lunch; ordered 2 sandwiches and a salad from our surly server. The food came out promptly and was satisfactory but nothing special. The bigger problem occurred when the staff started sweeping and putting up chairs as we were finishing our lunch. It was 2:45. As we stood up from the table to leave, one of the young women swooped in and began clearing our food and drinks away before we could even step back from the table! I had intended to take my remaining drink (it was already in a to go cup) but the server had already stacked it to discard. I told her I was planning to take it with me and she replied with "we're closing. Do you really want another tea?" At no time did anyone ask if we needed anything and the vibe was the opposite. How fast can we get these people out of here.
Mediocre food, horrible customer service. Think twice before spending...
Read moreDated, Dated menu. Great location and outdoor seating but the menu is -let’s just say is nothing short of gross. It’s a step back in time and in the main thoroughfare of an awakening downtown Cary. Time to do a facelift with some of the classics. Make it a destination lunch menu. Salads with bean sprouts and sliced carrots? A Boring Chef salad? It’s just literally time to wake up and realize what era were living in. And lays ruffled chips as your side item with a pickle? Just an unnecessary option. As being one of the only places open for lunch and not dinner-serving only, twist the classics into more health friendly and cut out half ur menu. And bean sprouts- how about the ladies from the farmers market who grow fresh pea, radish and broccoli and kale sprouts. Bright greens and reds with a ton of nutrition. Time to stop serving things out of jars, cans and...
