NO CUSTOMER SERVICE In Cary to celebrate a friend's birthday for the weekend, but I must tell you about the experience I and my companions had. I called because last minute dinner plans and the young lady answering was helpful and told when should arrive before they got busy. We were dressed casual nothing inappropriate, so I walk directly to host stand and I identify myself and that all the party was here. One manager tells the young lady to go ahead and put menus on their table. We begin to walk to dining room and black young man stops me at the front of the line and says " you cannot go to the dining room because you have a hat on." Bad hair day yall (I've never gone to the restaurant with a hat on and never been told my attire was inappropriate,) I do know they dress code but because I was female I didn't think me putting on a hat would be an issue. So I say, oh no and begin to start panicking and do an about-face, the ladies circle me as as I tell they what he said. Go to the car comeback (I looked a hot mess, but I'm like I'm about to eat good so it's ok). We are not immediately greeted by our server, but ok she comes we get water and one basket of bread for 8 people. One of us orders a drink took longer than normal, but ok. Seafood tower was ordered and specif instructions were given that only four would be eating from it. (So salads for everyone else) Seafood tower arrives, we had to ask for another young man and he came back with two bread baskets for the table, not our waitress. We continue to sit and a manager walks close to my chair , and I informed him we have not received our salads and we have been sitting 35-40 minutes by this point, he left headed toward kitchen but and upon his return he didn't address me directly he walks by me and says your salads are coming. Still no salads after another 10 minute so our host for the weekend says are we ready to leave and pay for what they gave us, (bread, water, and seafood tower). So at 830 (reservations at 730) we get and to the door and 840 we walk around to Bonefish Grill and have an awesome dinner and way better customer service. THESE ARE ALL THE REASON OUR EXPERIENCE AT RUTH CHRIS WAS HORRIBLE. Be addressed about my hat by the black manager, and the two non black individuals who greeted me upon my arrival had nothing to say about my hat or anything else and were beginning to walk us to the table. Not being greeted upon being seated by our waitress (Clarke). Clarke was more focused on making bananas foster for the smaller table next to us she let our water run out and one bread basket go empty. Two other servers who had full sections passed us a couple of times one refilled water and the other brought 2 bread basket. No attention from server and the three managers on duty were more focused on watching the game on TV than assisting us. All three of them came close to our table totaling more then 10 times during the hour we waited to for food. No apology for salads and soup not coming as they should. No manager ever came to table and asked us how's it going is everything ok. Upon leaving we are collectively told I'm sorry, but we should have said some sooner so it could...
Read moreWe chose Ruth's Chris for our celebratory business dinner for ten, partly because we knew what to expect based on many years of experience with the chain.
In summary, we enjoyed a great evening among close friends despite an average dining experience.
The best element of the evening was our table and the restaurant's effort to create a suitable environment for the occasion at a semi private round on a balcony of sorts overlooking the main dining area below.
The food was very good though pedestrian in presentation and variety.
We were most surprised and disappointed by the service. Specifically, my wife had to discreetly direct our young and inexperience attendant direction on multiple occasions to properly take care of the table. Simple care in point: At dessert time, she had to ask him to check with each guest to see if they wanted another beverage, since as coffee, tea, our even a refill of water.
Most surprising to me was their handling of is the wine selection. I stated what we were looking for and the waiter came back after speaking with an unseen sommelier with bottles without explanation or offering a taste for approval. This was after my initial selections were unavailable.
Later, after the bottles were empty, one guest asked for a separate glass, also asking for a recommendation based on a couple of criteria he offered. Imagine this, the waiter offered a suggestion, which my friends refused, since he knows the wine and doesn't care for it The waiter again went to speak with the unseen sommelier, and returned work a glass for approval. Inexplicably, to be had brought the very wine that my friend had refused, and my friend called him out on it. To his credit, the waiter admitted it, bringing another wine afterward. To his shame, to and that is the restaurant, he treated a guest as ignorant and tried to deceive.
Like the meal, the dessert was unimaginative, albeit enjoyable. The cheesecake was clearly mass-produced. The generic looking creme brulee could have been transformed with a simple touch of carmelizing flame at the table.
Our next such meal will be somewhere else like RH Rooftop. I will try my return to Ruth's, but I will first ensure that simple expectations...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went here for my 30th birthday this past Saturday. When I made the reservation online I specifically stated I was coming there to celebrate my birthday and I requested the rose petals on the table and the complimentary birthday dessert (didn’t have to request these things since it comes automatically when you state reserving for birthday). Me and my 2 close friends come and are automatically told they ran out of rose petals and weren’t able to come through with that however my server Jimmy would be able to “make up for that” (whatever that meant). We sat down. Got some drinks. Placed our orders. The manager came in and asked a couple of tables how their experience was..skipping our table of course. The server was sweet however not very efficient. Once we finished our dinner course he never came to take our plates which consisted of at least 11 plates and 7 drinks on a small square table for 4 people. So when it was time to bring my desert out on the cart, he lite my one small candle and then realized there was no way to place it on the table due to the fact that there was no room. So of course he had to blow the candle out..take all of the empty plates and then restart. Another issue is the complimentary birthday desert had nowhere written happy birthday which is what it should have said on the plate. The food was great so thanks to the kitchen but everything else was TERRIBLE. I hate that I came here for my birthday. I would recommend others to go to Perry steakhouse over this place anyway. Oh and yes I did try to call the head manager there named Kirt and I explained all of this..His resolve to all of this was that I was more then welcome to come in and get a complimentary “FULL SLICE OF CHEESECAKE”. What a joke! My guest and I spent well over $500 that night. Money was not the issue and a 5 or 10 dollar slice of cheesecake is not going to cut it for me. Stay away from this place you guys! Spend your money where you are appreciated especially if you are celebrating a special day birthday or anniversary. Spend it with people who CARE because this...
