I will say this... Their food is pretty good! If you're craving Jamaican food in Cary this is your only place to go. While the food is decent - expect to wait for it to be made if it is available. It is a small establishment with a very small skeleton crew of staff. They definitely need help in there but I understand that finding employees is difficult and maintaining the consistency of the products is equally challenging Yesterday I waited an hour for my food. There's nowhere to dine in because they have the dining room closed. And there's nowhere to sit and wait for your food so standing or waiting in your car is your only option. I came here because I know the food is good and though it is the only place in Cary I didn't feel like driving to the next town. In hindsight I could have drove to the next town got in my food and been home eating it in the same amount of time I waited for my food to be prepared here. There were four other people that waited just as long for food. A few of them were very angry because they had called hours ahead and told the time to pick up and still had to wait another 45 minutes to an hour. The only reason why I was not upset is because I am aware that there is a very long wait when you come here. Usually I will wait around 30 minutes or so but Saturday at 5 pm was exceptionally long. And it is all orders to go so there is no waiting tables or a busy dining room to consider when weighing the pros and cons of coming somewhere and waiting this long for food. I recently indulged in a hearty plate featuring curry goat, oxtail, cabbage, and rice & peas, and I was thoroughly impressed. The curry goat was incredibly tender, falling apart effortlessly, infused with a deep, rich curry flavor that speaks to hours of careful preparation and seasoning. Equally outstanding was the oxtail ; truly to die for, with a slow-cooked depth that bursts with bold, savory Caribbean spices.
The cabbage was a pleasant surprise: perfectly cooked, subtly seasoned, and providing a fresh balance to the richness of the meats. Paired with fluffy, fragrant rice and peas, this meal hit every note; comforting, satisfying, and utterly delicious.
Portions were generous, easily justifying the $30 price tag, and the value was matched by the warm, welcoming service. The shopkeep was incredibly friendly, offering genuine hospitality and a smile that made the experience feel even more like home. You can tell she really cares about the food that was made.
This is food made with love, heritage, and serious culinary skill. If I closed my eyes, I could almost hear the waves of the Caribbean Sea and feel the warmth of the Jamaican sun.
I highly recommend this establishment to anyone craving authentic Caribbean cuisine. It’s a five-star experience through and through. Thank you, I'll absolutely be back and can’t wait to try the jerk...
Read moreThis place is hit or miss. They are doing there part with the mask. However, it takes FOREVER for you food to come out. Whats worst i just order a side of cabbage. You would think that there were back there making it from scratch. There stingy with the gravy even when you ask for extra. I wish they update the marker bored behind the register. You see something on there and they are always out. In fact there entire menu needs to be update because most of the items they dont even sell anymore. Today i asked about the curry chicken wrap. The lady at the register told me everything that's in it. I responded, "oh that sounds good! I'll take that!" She replied, "we dont have that today!"😒 then i said, "ohhh i see there a special for ur wings how many do u get?" She replied and said, "yes they are good. You would love them!" I replied, "well let me get a order of that!" She replied, "we dont have wings today!" Now im like, "can you point on the menu what yall do have!" This is wasting my time.
