WASTE OF MONEY!!! Yum Yum is Disgusting and too expensive for a small portion of poor quality food. I honestly, do not know how this place was rated so high? Either, they paid people to do a fake review or the people that "enjoy it" have very bad taste in food. Went here with my family for dinner and as high rated as it is, there was nobody else in there. I assumed it would be busy because it was talked up so much. But clearly nobody was in there because it's terrible! Well, we ordered pad Thai and it was a disgusting ball of noodles. Obviously when they were boiling the noodles, they did not stir. Same with the beef noodle soup...a slimy clump of noodles...over cooked on the outside layer and barely cooked on the inside. Also ordered, the curry and there was barely chicken, but plenty of onions. How does a cook not know how to cook noodles? My advice (stop cooking! It's not your specialty) YUM YUM is not "yum yum". Its nasty and very cheap! They charge a lot for a very small portion of food. Also, they automatically add 20% tip. LMAO! Are they serious? Haha this place is a joke! If you actually think this place is a good Thai place, you obviously have never had real Thai food in your life, EVER!!!!! Trust me, do not go here. Coming from a culinary graduated and pastry chef, it's an embarrassment that someone with such cheap terrible taste would open up a restaurant. As if they are taking advantage of people into thinking this is authentic Thai food. I believe the owners were sitting around one day and randomly can up with the idea to open up a restaurant with no ambition or goals. Taking advantage of North Carolins because they aren't customed to thai food. Yum yum is not Thai food! If I could rate this place zero stars, I would have. Highly disappointed! I hate to be so blunt, but Yum Yum was not yummy. It was...
Read moreIf you are currently stationed in Fort Bragg, NC and have tried all the other Thai Restaurants in the surrounding areas: Fayetteville, Spring Lake etc…, I suggest you take a 1 hour drive up to RDU (Drive via US 1 N. rather than I95 then I40 because the traffic on US 1 N. flows much faster) and get ready to taste a satisfying Thai Cuisine at the Yum Yum Thai Cuisine Restaurant. At the time of this review I have tasted Thai Cuisines that were currently rated with more stars than Yum Yum Thai Cuisine however just because they have more stars does not necessarily mean it tastes better. After that unfortunate dish, my family and I will surely be heading to Yum Yum Thai Cuisine in Cary, NC for a satisfying reassurance of what Thai Cuisine should taste like! My name is Marlon Dela Rosa and I approve this message!
My Flavors I have tasted and long for: Most favorite Thai Restaurant: Yum Yum Thai Cuisine of Cary, NC Most satisfying dish ever tasted: Sweet Chili Glazed Ehu (Red Snapper) in Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room on the 3rd Flr of Macys (Ma uka end) in Ala Moana, HI.
A dish I could eat once every other week: 10 Hour Roast Beef from Bizu Patisserie and Café on the 1st flr of Greenbelt 2 Ayala Center, Makati Philippines One of my most favorite desserts: Coco Puffs from Liliha Bakery in Kalihi, Honolulu, HI right across from the fire department. My most favorite Shave Ice: Shimazu Store, a bit of a walking distance from Liliha Bakery. The shave ice from Shimazu is much softer than the one on the North Shore, Matsumoto. Shimazu’s syrup flavors go to the very bottom of the Shave Ice as well, unlike Matsumoto’s shave ice (which is more like crushed ice) which only goes half way of their...
Read moreI came in late, so perhaps my experience was due to that. The staff weren't acting very professional but then again it WAS very late and they were about to get off of work so perhaps that was why the following happened:
I ordered lemongrass soup, spring rolls, Pud Woonsen w/o onions and bell peppers and Panang Curry - Medium heat.
Pro: Food was fast, hot and well prepared.
Con: The pud woonsen had both onions and bell peppers in it (saturating the taste) and the cashier that took my order did not write down no onions because she said it didn't have them but did write down no peppers and the cook missed it anyhow.
Pro/Con: The lemongrass soup had tomatoes in it. I've never had it this way and it was good, but unexpected. If you do not like tomatoes be prepared for this unexpected twist.
Pro/Con: The spring rolls came with a sauce that I have never had before. I am used to a slightly spicy thai sauce similar in color and texture to duck-sauce but with more spice. This was a honey-based sauce. I liked it, but be prepared for the unexpected sauce.
Pro/Con: The Panang Curry was delicious but contained quite a few overly woody bamboo hearts (the chef should notice this and remove them IMHO). I think it was a bit spicier than I was expecting, but then every chef has their own idea of medium vs. hot so this isn't really a con.
OVERALL: I liked the food and will go back, but I will make sure they fix my food correctly next time. If you go to this Thai restaurant make sure you specify your order and expect things to be slightly different than the typical (traditional?)...
