Disgusted. Today we went to my daughters favorite restaurant, Big Wa. For context, we go fairly often, and my 6 year old daughter chose Big Wa for her birthday dinner the past 3 years. We have eaten Big Wa for Christmas dinner for the past 6 years. We have always tipped large (30%+) as the service is usually great, and food good. However today is the reason we will not be going back.
We went with our in-laws from Mexico and children for a party total of 6. We ordered quite a bit of food for us 6. Teriyaki beef on stick, orange chicken, two orders of chicken fried rice, Chicken with vegetables, large egg drop soup, crab puffs, and Beef Lo Mein.
Our order came in parts. It was obvious they were a bit behind due to being busy. We received most our food but wanted on beef lo mein and chicken with vegetables. Durring this wait, we had to ask 3 times politely for chilkj sauce and refill on our drinks, with the last time having to get up and get the attention of the cashier.
When our chicken with vegetables and beef lo mein finally came out, we began on those plates.
About halfway into the beef lo mein, I found a dead FLY, cooked into the beef lo mein noodles. I lost my appetite. I let them know, and none of my family at that point wanted to eat any longer. We got about halfway done with our food, but after a dead fly being nearly eaten, and obviously consuming food that could have contained more insect contaminated flavoring, we were done. I've been nauseous since, although I traditionally have an iron stomach.
To Big Wa's credit they apologized, and took the lo mein off the bill, along with an additional 15%. Unfortunately they lost what was a loyal customer.
Please check your food carefully if you eat here. Don't experience...
Read moreThe customer service SUCKS BIG TIME, but the food is okay for the price. I've gone there on numerous occasions and I find that the waiters/waitresses always seem to forget things that are so basic with good costomer services. For example: bring the customer a glass of water in a clean glass not one that is riddled with food stains; not having to ask for complementary snacks that seemed to be offered to everyone else but me; and the most recent experience while eating there for the last time occurred today (5/25). The waitress asked, "what would you like to drink"? " water with lemon in it, please," I replied to the waitress so the waitress come out minutes later and services drinks to the other customers and forgets about me. Furthermore, they served my food and watched me eat every bit of it (no joke, they literally watched me), took my dishes away and everything yet still did not notice that I had nothing to drink. Finally I asked again can I have some water with lemon in it? So, the waitress grabs a glass and fills it with water, throws a lemon in it and leaves it on the counter for me to get up and get. Talk about POOR SERVICE skills. BIG WA is only second to CHINA KING in worse customer service in...
Read moreHand down the best Chinese restaurant in Casa Grande/Coolidge area. Service is very friendly and they go above and beyond for their customers. They have a positive attitude and always make sure you’re are doing ok.
I never had kung pao WITH BEEF before (usually chicken) and will definitely order this again. Meat was very tender and the egg drop soup was better than average restaurants. Most have it too bland and they hit the spot! My favorite is honey walnut shrimp and I have yet to try theirs. I’m sure they won’t disappoint! The parking is a bit tight but if you go during a slow day it seems like you’ll be able to find yourself a spot.
Edit of my review as of 5/3/23: I just returned for my second time to have the walnut shrimp and it was 10x better than dragon city in my opinion. No hate towards Dragon City but I just enjoy the way Big Wa prepares theirs. Service was still amazing and their prices can’t be beat for the area especially since they have all day...
