OK, something has drastically changed here. I have eaten pizza and veal parm here since it was called butler Plaza. Hadn't eaten here for a good while. Called to order, and first change I noticed was veal parm no longer on the menu. That seemed odd. Ordered an xl meat pie and chicken parm sub and Italian sub. The pizza was nothing like the Anthony's I've eaten at for many years. Cheese on pizza was stiff and not stretchy like before. That slight oil sheen on the pie was gone also. The red sauce in the sub was not as sweet and good as before. This was my 5* pizza place for years. Now it might rate a 3*. If I had to guess there has either been a ownership/management change or massive cut back in ingredient quality and preparation. I'm saddened to say this will no longer be my go to neighborhood pizza place. PS just noticed a extra charge (2.9%)for using a credit card, that's new also and confirms to me this place is no longer the Anthony's I have known for many years.
Response to owner
Thanks for replying. As I grew up in winter park and ate here often since opening, your responses puzzle me. I can tell you the meat pizza was made completely different than prior to changes that were obviously made to the operation. Case in point, the meat toppings were under the cheese. Look at older photos. That is very different. If I didn’t have such a long history, or was a new customer I wouldn’t know the difference. However the construction of the pizza and flavor profile is much different now. I’m not saying it’s bad, just not as good as it was. Perusing some other comments I notice other long time regulars saying...
Read moreThe food was ok, not stellar. I got an XL with beef, pepperoni, and extra cheese on one side and beef, anchovies, and extra cheese on the other side. The anchovies were WAY too salty. Not a little salty, astronomically high quantities of salt. So salty that I was glad they barely but add toppings to their pizzas (something I take issue w on the other toppings, which taste much better). Also, they seem to measure their toppings for a medium lol and doesn't matter what size you get they just spread the same amount of toppings over more area. A medium will likely have "enough" toppings per unit of pizza surface area, an XL did not. Even with two toppings on each half (technically 3 w the extra cheese), there was so much extra space it felt like the amount from two toppings combined to ALMOST how much you should get from a single topping.
Also, the actual flavor of the cheese and bread was slightly above average. It was like they forgot how to use other seasonings (not salt) in the sauce bread and cheese to further liven up the pizza.
That said the ambiance is nice. It feels like you've stepped into an (albeit large) NYC pizza enclave dedicated to classic vibes and neighborhood eats. 90s TMNT cartoons played on the TV and the wallpaper, decor, everything felt nostalgic in a sort of way that made you want to get to know the staff and bring your friends for a pie to sit and chat and soak in the ambiance.
That said, the pie itself left something to be desired. 😔 not bad, but I shouldn't be able to easily find ORLANDO pizza that tastes better than a joint with...
Read moreI posted on my snapchat of how disappointed I am with Anthony Pizza after 15 plus years of giving them business and found out I was not the only person upset with the owner son. Has anybody other than me dealt with the business owner son?. He is rude and disrespectful. His father told him to apologize, and he did in a disrespectful way. It wasn't sincere. I even told him that was not a sincere apology. Smh I told the owner he that's needs to beat the boy butt before he messed up your business. I called in for 2 slice of pizza, and he kept saying, "What are the two sizes?"" After saying I want 2 slice loud, he hung up on me. No worries I won't be returning back. Especially I'm not the only one that dealt bad business from you, son. It's all good. YOUR response is fake and an excuse to the disrespect I've received. Now I know where he got it from. Smh... For 2025 Anthony pizza would not be the best pizza place. It's okay 5229 Red Bug Lake Rd, Winter Springs, FL 32708 Tomasino Pizza has better service and good pizza and better price too. I am really gonna miss the original owner. Thanks for the great memories you gave me and my family and the great service you provided throughout the years. To bad the new owner don't show the same love and respect on your legacy. 😢.. p.s. it's not going to last long. Your 4 star is slowing dropping and you will never recieve the best pizza reward because you are not the original. Stop lying amd make your own business name and not destroy...
