I have no idea why this place has so many stars, its terribly misleading. My husband loves New York pizza so I had suggested to him to try this place because it was so highly reviewed. The first time he went it was closed, then a few weeks later I suggested it again because I had other dinner plans so my Husband picked up pizza for he and my son. I wish I had taken a picture when I saw the pizza he brought home, it was half pepperoni and half pep&mushroom but my first question was "wheres the toppings?" I get that New York pizza is thin but I didn't know they hate toppings on it too, this thing had a handful of pepperoni on the whole thing (IM BEING GENEROUS WHEN I SAY HANDFUL) and the side with mushrooms had about 8 mushroom pieces on it, I only found out today that he spent almost $26 for that. He said they got the crust right but had to agree with me that it was not something he would get again because of the skimpy toppings. We never regret trying new places but this one has to go in the not worth it list.
update
I am surprised this place is still open, I don't know why anyone would put up with the horrible service i have been reading about, after we realized this place is overpriced we went up the street to the New York Pizza Place right next to HEB and have been happily ordering regularly and loving the food and service for the last 2 years. The food is amazing, he makes the most wonderful specialty pizzas (the Feta Pizza is smack your momma amazing) and I had a calzone the other day and a Caesar salad, he makes these yummy garlic knots instead of croutons and the dressing was so good. drive a few blocks further and get good food from happy people cause Sapores not only sounds sub-par but sad too, cause you can order online or over the phone at the place next to HEB and they love their customers, and no I don'...
Read moreI will preface this review by saying I have been here to dine in pre covid. That was a great experience and excellent food. This time however was a complete disappointment from what I remembered. I had found their number on Yelp to see if they were available for delivery in my area. On Yelp their hours were listed to close at 8, so when I called at 7:45 I asked if they were still doing deliveries. I was answered by a woman who was very short with me, as if it was my fault that their hours were different than advertised. I then try to order for delivery over the phone where I was met with another very short and annoyed answer by the woman on the phone directed me to order online for delivery. So I said “I’m sorry thank you” and proceeded to order online for delivery. Come to find out there is a $20 minimum order for delivery. But don’t worry guys! One medium pizza and a bottle of San Pellegrino will run you $25 and you’ll definitely hit that minimum! And the icing on top of this horrible experience is that I don’t even have an overpriced pizza to enjoy because the delivery driver never came. I’m really not one to leave bad reviews, hell I’ve spent over 5+ years working in food service. But the bad customer service and faulty delivery service I received today needs to be noted. Next time I’ll order dominos if I want bad service. Maybe the pizza is good here but I...
Read moreThe pizza is awesome. It has just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Oh and the Peppi Poppers are delicious!!! They make their marinara sauce just the way I like it. This is my absolute favorite place to eat pizza except for the upset/rude look on the owner’s face whenever I ask for a box or container so that I can box up any leftovers. You would think the owner wouldn’t mind after spending over $120 whenever we visit or at the very least charge me for the darn containers/boxes. I would rather pay for a “to-go” box than feel uncomfortable asking for one. My mother even got the ugly stare from the owner when she asked for a container so that she can take the marinara sauce that came with the Peppi Poppers. We had at least 7oz of marinara sauce left and the owner only gave her one 2oz container. When she asked for another container, the owner made another ugly face, walked back to the kitchen to grab another tiny container and handed it over without saying a word. That was my mother’s first time at the restaurant.. she told me she would not returning. As soon as I find a better pizza place, I’m doing...
