I really am bummed to have to write this because I genuinely enjoy the flavor of most of the dishes Outback serves. The last SEVERAL times I have been to this location, there have been issues (literally the last 4). This past experience a few days ago was by far the worst. We arrived at 6:20pm to a busy, but not super full restaurant. We were sat right away, and greeted promptly. Beverages came out promptly. The server was nice enough, though maybe a little green. My partner’s meal came out adequate, perhaps the steak slightly overdone for his taste. Those are the only decent parts of the night - the very few pieces that allowed for a second star.
Here’s where everything else failed: systems went down and, instead of having a forward-thinking manager that could manually write tickets and data enter them as food was cooking and served, our order wasn’t entered for 40 minutes. It wasn’t until we’d been at the restaurant for almost an hour that we were offered a free appetizer, which we stupidly declined. 1:15 into being there, we received our food. My meal, a medium plus filet, loaded mash, sweet potato w/cinnamon and butter and a side of grilled shrimp and ribs, was an utter failure. The filet was RARE. Literally almost blue looking in the middle. I swear it had a pulse 😅. The ribs were colder than the inside of my mouth. The shrimp - unsure if they were even fully cooked and also, room temp at best (thankfully not stone cold like the ribs). My loaded mashed potatoes were simply mashed potatoes - no toppings. My sweet potato, lukewarm, was desperately overcooked and loaded with brown sugar when I only wanted cinnamon and butter. They cooked and brought me back the same steak. Everything tasted as usual, but gross with off temps and poor cooking (and come on, you’re a steak house and you can’t time a steak right?!?!). When we went to pay, we noticed the bill was $50 and thought, ok, at least they realized what an abomination they put in front of me tonight and comped it. Next thing we know, post card swipe of course, the server comes over, flustered, and tells us there’s been an error in the check and that we paid for someone else’s table stating he needed to get his manager to credit my card back. He then comes back with a new Ziosk and bill of $105. Livid at this point, we call the server back over and ask to see the manager. We’d been there at this point, for 1:40. The manager comes over, sweaty and clearly frazzled. I’m calm but needing to point out just how poorly executed everything was when on a night like this, the kitchen manager should’ve had really great oversight and ensured everything that went out was up to par. The manager absolutely didn’t want to be there and made that really clear by his urgency to leave. I never got the refund for the first bill, they comped the second and finally, after a nearly 2-hour ordeal, we were free. I will not go back to this location until I see new management - absolutely wild to think someone would’ve paid over $100 for that...

As someone who lives on 16th St. in downtown Denver and regularly dines at a variety of steakhouses – I was just at Elway's yesterday, for instance – I have a discerning palate when it comes to a great steak. I recently had the pleasure of venturing down to the Outback Steakhouse in Castle Rock, and I can confidently say it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant, and the service was simply impeccable. Our food was cooked to perfection – every steak was juicy and flavorful, the Bloomin' Onion was as delicious as ever, and the sides were fresh and perfectly prepared. It's clear that the kitchen staff takes immense pride in their work. What truly elevated this visit, however, was the exceptional leadership evident throughout the entire restaurant. The manager, the manager on duty, the guy with the shaved head, was a visible and active presence, ensuring every table was taken care of and the team operated like a well-oiled machine. Their professionalism, positive attitude, and attentiveness to both staff and customers were truly remarkable. It's rare to see such a hands-on approach that clearly inspires the entire staff to deliver top-notch service.
Note on Review Integrity Speaking of rare experiences, I recently came across an unbelievable statistic: that 76% of less than five-star reviews are from paid trolls. This significantly skews review algorithms and isn't truly fair to establishments like Outback that genuinely deliver high quality. My five-star experience here at the Castle Rock location stands as a testament to the real quality and effort put in by the team, proving that genuine customer satisfaction shines through despite external manipulation. This level of operational excellence and customer satisfaction is a direct reflection of outstanding management. The Castle Rock Outback Steakhouse is a shining example of what a truly great dining experience should be, and it's undoubtedly thanks to the dedication and skill of its leadership. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a fantastic meal and an all-around wonderful time. We will...
Read moreWe walked out before the drinks even came. The menus are sticky and dirty. The table was not clean neither the seats and it was absolutely freezing inside the building. the whole environment was not conducive to a nice sit-down restaurant that you would enjoy a meal at. After looking at the sticky menu we realized that everything was way overpriced a 6 ounce steak was $31. I can go down the street to Applebee's and get a 6-oz steak for less than $16. And I get more for my money with two sides my choice not forced veggies. Outback has really gone downhill. They used to have a full menu of things that anybody and everybody would like to eat. Now they're only interested in catering to the wealthy and those that enjoy surf and turf which is fine but when you're a person that has dentures or cannot eat a steak you would like a different option like chicken which they have two options that were both overpriced and non appetizing even in detail and that was not acceptable to me. Even for the kids menu there was not any availability to food that a child would enjoy other than fries. Dirty, cold, non conducive eating environment. Nothing looked appetizing. Warm fresh bread used to come out right away and that has even been taken off the menu. If you want to pay three times too much, sit in the tundra and not get a full healthy meal...Go here. The service for the ten minutes we were there was acceptable at least. We ended up driving down further to Colorado Springs to the Black Bear Diner which was amazing! Definitely a go to. Their food was reasonably priced with full huge portions with absolute delight in the end along with leaving full, happy, satisfied and little individual personal pies for later along with my leftovers. Go anywhere else but Outback steakhouse. Sad,...
