TeeBox is hands-down one of the best hidden gems in Cave Creek! Whether you’re a golf junkie or just there for the vibes, this place nails it. The simulators are next-level (Trackman tech, super accurate), and the setup is perfect for escaping the summer heat. The food blew me away—definitely not your typical “bar food.” Think chef-driven menu with actual flavor. The cocktails are top-notch, and I loved that they had over 40 beers and wines on tap. What really stood out was the vibe: it feels upscale without being pretentious. We even got to meet the owner, Jim Bucklin, who was super down-to-earth and was out hitting balls with Coach Steve Loy—Phil Mickelson’s longtime coach! TeeBox is great for casual nights, parties, or even date night. Highly recommend checking them out—especially during happy hour. You don’t have to love golf to love this place. 🔥

Had fun with some friends. We tried a few courses virtually, I’m not a fan of mats but it was a good way to stay cool. The food was so so, pretty basic bar food from the several dishes we tried. If you’re bored and like to stay cool with friends, try it out.

Where do I even start. I we were all so excited to try this place I called ahead at 1030 or so in the morning and reserved the bays in the back room for 100 an hour at 2pm. I tried to book for a total of 3 hours to 4 hours. She told me what she was going to do was book me for an hour then they pro-rate the extra hours on top depending on how long our 18 took. Confirmed with a manager and said we’re excited to see you at 2!

We drove about 45 minutes from Scottsdale and Tempe to escape the heat. When we got in this tall kid booked the family in front of us into one of the front bays. Then when we came up told us there was no more premium bays left in the back which I made a reservation for and threw us into the side bay up front. He told us well what we can do is put you here for the first hour and start then we’ll move you. The next premium bay in back opens up at 245.

Then comes up to me and says well actually grab you in 10 minutes so just go start in bay 11 then we’ll move you.

I ordered a beer at 210, they moved us to bay 3 at 235 and it wasn’t even a bay in the back so they made us move to another bay in the front where the screen was falling off the top. A manager couldn’t help us and the tall young kid kept laughing about it and saying people need to learn to read a calendar. I wouldn’t have booked nor drove up to play in a bay that wasn’t in the back. And am throughly frustrated I went up knowing I was going to damn near spend 1000 dollars on drinks and golf for a group of 5. Waitress was forgetting drinks. At one time we walked back to the bathroom after ordering our drinks and saw three of the waitresses sitting on the ground behind the front counter. The manager kept asking us if we were done and overall a terrible experience. Great idea and concept ran terribly I’ve had better experiences at a Buffalo Wild Wings and my local 10 dollar driving range.

Made no sense at all I didn’t even get my first drink until 245 that I ordered. The bar had one bartender who took about 20 minutes on any drink we ordered including beer, we were ordering our second drinks as we were receiving the first ones and finishing the first ones and three holes later with still no new round. Waitresses were friendly but no one knows how to pre buss. Food was coming out faster than drinks. No one showed us how to work the computer told us any idea what was happening and just kind of just treated us like crap. I told them I was trying to take 4 of my top salesman out and she kept splitting the checks and treating us like we were low life’s.

The waitresses were nice but had no idea what they were doing the manager was snooty and really ruined the whole experience for us. The manager even had the nerve to walk back and ask how close we were to finishing when the place was damn near empty. The website says come in jeans and your favorite band t shirt, but I don’t recommend you do because they will treat you like you are broke.

This place needs to be ran better before I come back and you should consider going. No one knows what they are doing, they over staff the waitresses and understaff the bartender during peak times and the manager was a rude and had no idea what was going on. There was no music in the bays it was extremely hot inside. And there was a premium bay open in the back the entire time almost. Not happy.

This app that we were looking at on the website never was talked about they just said go to this bay and hoped we figured it out from there. We did but if we had a question there was no one that knew anything around.

Plus side the food...

Let me start off by saying, I was hesitant to write this review after my initial visit (during their “soft” opening at the beginning of this month) and I wanted to give them another visit before voicing my opinion. After this past week I can confidently say they have some areas that really need to improve, and quickly, if they want to deliver an exceptional experience.

During my first visit we showed up 15min early so we could get checked in, set up, etc. After filling out the waiver and getting a tour of the place they set us up at one of the standard bays by the bar. I’m familiar with Trackman and it’s software so after getting settled, a couple practice swings, we were on our way. There was no one else there using any bay, so staff was just standing around watching us. Not necessarily being attentive as we had to call them over for more beers and they then left all the glasses at our table. The “pro” there that day continued to hover the whole time we were there, even after we mentioned several times we, “were good” and didn’t need him there. Often trying to small talk, offer unwanted advice (Like how I needed a stiffer shaft despite me being fitted by a pro, or how good of a golfer he was winning over $1,000,000 through the entire golf career), etc. Finally, he tried saying our two hours were up 15min early because that’s when we checked in, keep in mind we were the ONLY ones golfing. We simply corrected him and told him how he opted to give us a tour of the place, set us up, and showed us the software. Sidenote: This was the first week they were open. Why rush Cave Creek residents out when no one else is golfing and word of mouth is so important? Why not say something like, “Hey take another 9 on us, no one else is golfing. Enjoy yourselves!” Lastly, they then proceeded to check us out but charged us the premier bay rate. Also, the food/beverage bill is separate from the bay bill. In all it took us over 10min to get corrected, pay up and get out.

Second visit was this week. Had family in town and wanted to try this place again so we got the premier bay. This was much nicer and more private, but again, I had to chase down servers to get some drinks at first. Glasses were left rather than picked up right away. They clearly didn’t inspect the Ping clubs given to us to use because there was a crack in the driver when we first got it (Also rental clubs are now charged. First time we did not get charged for them). Their food seems good for a nicer bar setting but not for a group of people playing golf. Can’t really eat a burger while just taking a bite every 2min between swings. Again, they had issues with their POS and checking out for the food and drink separately took roughly 10min again to get checked out.

Overall, I want this place to work and I think it can but it has a lot of little things that need improvement.

TL;DR: POS system is messed up, they are insanely strict on your time spent there despite both times being there they were never more than half full, smaller finger food items should be added for the actual golf bays, servers gotta step up their game. The concept is amazing, the atmosphere is awesome and I think this place can be incredibly successful and fun if they can tighten...
