Spare yourself don't go!
New review: in the mood for a Guinness on draft I stopped by although my last experience was so poor. Well I think they could be worse now. I ordered a Guinness at the bar and the bartender literally forgot about my beer and the bar & restaurant didn't even have 15 people on premises. After about 15 minutes I finally get the beer. I ordered two happy hour appetizers, when she finally returned to my area I asked her if the lines were recently cleaned. To my shock she said today. I informed her that something is wrong because the beer had a nasty taste. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away.
I was shocked. The beer was u drinkable. Then apparently a change of shift or something and another bartender was in my area. Considering he was wearing a Paddy Cap and a Irish vest with numerous patches I presumed he would have a sense of pride in serving a Guinness at a Irish bar. Nope! I told him it tasted foul and what the prior bartender said. He shrugged his shoulders and said, oh. He didn't pour himself a sample to taste, didn't offer another beer or anything. Being non confrontational I ordered an IPA and left a 3/4 full beer at the end of the bar. Nothing!
When I received my bill sure as can be I was charged $9.00 for a beer that was undrinkable with two bartenders that could t care less.
BTW, the nachos were not worth the calories. Bag chips with bad fake tasting cheese sauce and flavorless ground meat. The wings were average but not worth the trip.
Old review: Unfriendly and slow bartender. Give me a break trying to support a local business after the bar opens and catch attitude.. sat inside so I could have a proper Guinness in this Irish bar... NOT! Served in plastic and it tasted like the lines were cleaned before they shut down. Was going to order lunch but after having to ask for a menu twice I decided why bother.
There are too any great options in Cave Creek and Carefree to...
Read moreTo be fair, the bartender was very polite and intermittently attentive because he was busy but was also thoughtful, he's no stranger to service. Personable too. Really great location with an exterior deck with awesome views, the inside is very traditional tavern style, very much a pleasurable atmosphere. The only thing that really was discouraging was when we got the bill. I should've looked at the beer prices. $10 a pint for Church Music? I had 3, so that's THIRTY DOLLARS for 3 pints! My wife's missed drink was reasonably priced at $9 (she had two). She had a buffalo chicken wrap with fries, which I think was like a dollar less than my $19 fish and chips which was quite skimpy. One medium filter and one smaller one. It was tasty but was not even close to filling. $93 for 3 pints of beer, 2 mixed drinks, a typical chicken wrap and a skimpy fish and chips. But then there's the tip, so it was actually $110 for that experience (I would've been inclined to tip more, but I'm not tipping on a percentage scale for overpriced beer). I should add that we've been there once other time during the day over a year ago and the fish and chips place was much more generous. They did have an entertaining band, I wish they had more people attending for the pub to make more money to pay whatever they did for the band. They could do so much better business with balancing their prices and better marketing, but I guess they're not interested in drawing some of the young fools from the bars down the street, haha. Great place overall, and will visit again for date night with my wife, but will definitely not order fish and chips again, and will see if there's more reasonably priced beer during happy hour...
Read moreI wish I could give zero stars. we can midday on a Tuesday!!!! the server saw us... I wish I had taken a picture of her so I could say if you see her working.. RUN! don't even bother... she saw us, told us to sit wherever and we'd be helped. waited at least 15 minutes. saw two tables get their food... though one never got the water they'd asked for.. another table behind us made a comment "there we go" when their beer was brought out....her comment was "I wanted to give the ... time to settle(i forgot what they had ordered)." this tells me that they ordered their drinks... then food...aaaaand.. never got their drinks. when my husband finally went to go find someone, this gal comes up and says "what, have you been waiting all of 3 minutes?" in an extremely nasty, rude tone as she plops down menus. I replied, "no.. more like 15 (I was being generous)" and her reply was "well what do you want? I've been all over there (pointing to the row beside us where we are clearly able to be seen)" again super rude and abrupt. we tell her we are leaving and her reply is "fine!" and snatches the menus off the table before stalking away. If this is the type of service during the week... in the middle of the day... I'm afraid of what it is like when it is busy. as we walked out I called to speak to a manager.... surprise, surprise there wasn't one there... we won't be back. this is not the first time service has been bad, but this experience was downright awful and should be on an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares......
