This is long winded, but here it goes. The bad: Front of the house needs a lot of work. Hostesses barely smiling, a few servers/food runners seemed put out when asking for more salsa/chips/drinks/etc. Our waitress was all over the place, which made wait times for additional items longer than needed. Lack of knowledge on menu items. Asked our waitress what the fish of the day was for the taco and she said, "I think it's shrimp." Well, first - shrimp isn't a fish and second - there was already a shrimp taco offered on the menu. We watched an individual bus a table, and when he sprayed the table down, he sprayed toward the table next to it - so cleaning spray misted on to their food. I also got the sense that they were trying to rush the diners to avoid having wait times to seat people. I am not sure if they were food runner or servers but they grabbed plates that didn't belong to our table and try to deliver them. Our waitress brought me a water because I had alcohol and shoved it in my face without warning.
The good: The food! Their spicy salsa is fantastic! The heat is awesome. Their guacamole has great flavor, but the avocado was in too big of pieces, making it difficult to be able to scoop it. We ordered: Carne asade - delicious. Meat was tender with lots of flavor and the serving size was perfect. Steak fajitas- super tender & flavorful. Burrito Supreme - very good sized burrito and fully loaded with equal ratios of meat to filling items. Spicy Shrimp taco - This is offered as mild, medium, or spicy. Ordered the spicy, and there was absolutely 0 heat to it. The flavor was delicious but no heat. Fish taco- battered and fried cod (which was the fish of the week) with a mango salsa. I could eat this everyday and be happy. Tierra y Mar taco - this is a shrimp and steak combo taco, and while the flavor was delicious, this one seemed thrown together at the last second. 2 pcs of shrimp and steak was overflowing. The ontions and cilantro that were added were all on one end as well. Carne asade taco - tender and flavorful Chicken al Pasto taco - delicious, tender, juicy and lots of flavor.
While I know they have only been open about a month, but there seem to be some big flaws that need to be worked out. I will be back, simply...
Read moreDo not recommend. Unfortunately my experience here was very poor. Came in for dinner with my family (kids included) because we were staying at the hotel across the street. Walked in and hostess/employee was staring at the computer screen acting like if she doesn’t make eye contact she won’t have to greet or help anyone (there were 3 other groups waiting to be acknowledged and seated that arrived before us). After an uncomfortable amount of time another employee (looked like manager maybe?) came and greeted everyone and started seating people. After getting a table and placing our order we waited 1 HOUR just to get our drinks, and those only came after walking over and asking the bar tender about them after 45 min. She was on her phone and just responded “we’re making them now”. At that time we also decided to ask our server about the food. A few minutes later he came back from the kitchen and said that unfortunately our order had been “lost” and took our order again. When the food came another 45 min later the order had multiple items wrong. There was never any apology, or acknowledgement of things. For those of you with toddlers and young kids, you can imagine how fun it is trying to entertain hungry kids for that long. Needless to say I would never go back and do not recommend unless you like poor service and a 3 hour waiting/dining experience to eat mediocre Mexican food. Sorry guys, I don’t like writing negative reviews, but that was pathetic. I hope this leads to some training or change. ...
Read moreMy wife and I both selected chicken-based entrees only to be told there was no chicken after we ordered. I went with the shrimp fajitas (what could go wrong?), my wife with Pollo Durango (without the chicken). The fajita vegetables were largely tasteless (I thought this to be impossible), the shrimp well-cooked. The first flour tortilla was pretty good, but by the time I'd gotten to the second one (a couple of minutes), it was hard and split when I rolled it.
My wife suggested they take a couple bucks off the Pollo Durango since it contained no chicken, to which management replied through the server, "there would be no discount." Our thought was that maybe they'd increase the amount of mushrooms or something.. they did not. Ultimately, it was a poor value at $16.
It's a small sample size, but it wasn't very good and the lack of communication about no chicken (large part of the menu unavailable) before we ordered was strange. Our greeter wasn't particularly friendly when we arrived and no one said a word to us when we left. It felt like we'd popped in 5 minutes before closing instead of 4:30 pm. Had the atmosphere been remotely friendly, we might have considered a return (maybe it was an off day in the kitchen?), but it was so odd we'll never return.
Our bill for the above-mentioned entrees, an iced tea, and a flavored lemonade was...
