Mood- Weird Attractions
This was on my radar several weeks ago, but I didnt quite venture far enough to see. In 2001 it was voted as one of the top landmarks to see in UTAH. Then as I headed to another destination, there it stood with its mighty height which was clearly seen right from the freeway. So on my way back, I knew I wanted to stop and see this up close and personal.
The lighthouse stands around 88 feet tall. This is considered to be the tallest inland lighthouse in the country. The lighthouse was constructed in 2000 by Quantum Construction.
While there are several rumors going about as to why a landlocked massive Lighthouse would be built 450 miles from any ocean, there is actually a real conclusive answer.
It was a the mindset of a doomsday prepper. Many know the story of California falling off of the map when the " BIG" earthquake hits. So if that does happen, the new ocean border would be in theory UTAH. Mr. Pugh who is one of the partners to the development in where this stands has stated this as fact.
Would def recommend - pricing is free, however you cant go in. Only able to admire from the outside. it is fully functioning lighthouse if needed. Currently if you look through the window you will only see a staircase...
Read moreOut of curiosity, when I saw tours had become available I got us daytime tickets to go up in the Lighthouse. Great views all around and my husband and I had fun looking at each direction as there was something to see or comment on wherever we looked. I'm sharing the panorama shot I took of the South to North views. As we took pictures and walked around the platform, we agreed that trying to move the lighthouse would be extremely difficult due to its cement brick construction (but if someone took it on, it would be very interesting to see how they would attempt it). Glad we got to climb it at least once so we now know what...
Read moreI have no idea why it's there but it is and I love it. I'm unsure if there are some cool facts about it but its purdy. It's not a full sized light house but being that this is a land locked state, I'm not surprised. There is a door but I'm unsure of its usage. I know this is probably an extremely unhelpful review but it really is just a random light house right off one of the exits in Cedar City. The only parking and way to get to it is through the business parking...
