GO EAT THIS FOOD! I do a lot of reviews and love it when I find a surprise. This new Italian café is next door to one of my regular cheap Chinese lunch places. We saw it when we pulled up and I asked my wife if she wanted to try it.
So glad we did. First it is a counter order location. Not my favorite. Then first thing I noticed it said homemade pasta and sauces. Looking at the menu I thought the prices seem a bit expensive for this part of Austin. But we ordered an order of Meatballs and Spaghetti and an order of Chicken and Mushroom with Mascarpone Penne and 2 iced teas.
The iced teas arrived and we didnt like the flavor of the teas. But they replaced with sodas. But when the food arrived the magic began.
The pastas and the sauces where truly homemade. The spaghetti was thicker than commercial spaghetti and the meat balls where filled with great flavor and spice. The absolutely best part they know how to cook pasta which came out perfect Al Dente. The quality and flavor of the experience totally justified the slightly higher prices. The portions where large and filling. Must say best Meatball and Spaghetti i have had in Texas. Reminds me of northern Italy. My wife was going on about how good her Chicken Mascarpone was comparing it to our favorite place in Florence.
As we where about to leave the owner came by and I complimented her on the food. She was very open and interesting to share she was from italy years ago and this was her 3 restaurant here in the USA.
So go here and eat. Your foodie need will be pleased. Dont expect a fancy place or atmosphere. You come for the food.
Only draw back is the location since it is hidden in a little off the normal high traffic locations. But totally...
Read moreAfter reading all the comments for Dough It Up restaurant finally made it tonight. I heard last night there was a line out the door. The place is small so it can get busy quick. We went around 7:30 PM which was perfect . When we walked in, we were waiting to be seated and someone dining there told me you have to walk up to the counter order and then you can sit anywhere. They’ll bring the food to you.
I was going for the lasagna because from what I read in the comments, they make it the way my Italian grandmother used to make it not with ricotta cheese., but with béchamel sauce . They were sold out so I definitely have to go back and try it. I got a Margherita pizza. It’s not on the menu, but the owner said they can make it. The pizza was amazing. Perfect. I don’t like pizza with lots of sauce, and this pizza had perfect amount of sauce. It was very delicious the crust was perfect the bottom was not too thin. My husband had the meatballs with fettuccine and red sauce. I also had to try the Bolognese with spaghetti. Everything was al dente...
