Stopped by for lunch. Tomo is tucked away behind the IHOP at the end of a shopping plaza that has a large amount of Asian restaurants. We ordered a tempura udon noodle soup. It was a large bowl and very good. I had a bulgogi beef hot pot. The pot came to the table sizzling. Had I put my hand on it I would have suffered severe burns. The pot continued to sizzle to the point that my rice burned to the bottom. I had to search for the meat in the dish and I wish it had more beef and less salad and rice. We also ordered sushi which was very good; spicy tuna and a spicy crab roll. Overall it was good. The atmosphere was nice and quirky. They have several different types of seating areas throughout the restaurant. They had the movie Frozen playing with subtitles on a big projection screen and they played an odd medley of hiphop and rap music in the background. The waitress was not friendly and seemed to have a permanent scowl on her face. Toward the end of our meal the waitress came by and started to clear our table before we were done eating. I felt as if we were being rushed out. She gave me the check and immediately picked it up even with my hand being over it. I would go again only to try something different and hope I don't have the same waitress.

Decent food - did take out here. Unfortunately, they were very busy and didn’t include our whole order together, missing the sushi combo. Only upside is they called to let us know, as we hadn’t realized yet and we drove back to get it. Sushi was decent, with fish being relatively fresh. Sashimi cuts were poor. Gyoza was so so for me - not super flavorful. However, I would consider ordering the salmon lover combo again. Agree with other reviews in the fact that maybe they’re doing a bit too many types of food, rather than focusing on one in particular. Restaurant is a mix of many cuisines, not necessarily Japanese, Izakaya. Hard to do all very well and ends up leading to an overall average food/experience. #tomoizakaya #sushi #gyoza #nova

We are grateful for the extended operating hours of this restaurant, which provided a convenient dining option when other establishments closed. The overall quality of the food was commendable, and the Agedashi tofu particularly stood out as a highlight with its delightful contrast of textures and well-balanced sauce. While the seafood pho was generously portioned and featured a flavorful broth, the seafood itself seemed overcooked and lacked freshness, and the noodles were slightly overdone. The hot plate of chicken and beef was tasty and satisfying, accompanied by well-prepared fried rice. The service and ambiance both contributed positively to the dining experience.

If you're looking for a traditional, quality Japanese restaurant, this is not the place. Oh, and they will try to charge you more than the menu price if you do not pay attention. Full story below. We started with an ok bowl of Miso soup. The main course arrived and I noticed that I had no napkin, chopsticks, or fork on my table. I waited 5 minutes to see if any of the wait staff was still working on bringing it to me. I finally had to stop someone and ask. I ordered, as the menu says, Hibachi Beef. It is NOT Hibachi, it is actually Bulgogi. The appetizer arrived after I was half way done with my main course, even though I ordered the appetizer 8 minutes before ordering the main course. I ordered the fried calamari for the appetizer, as the menu says it is, and it was actually Tempura Octopus. As I looked around, all I saw was Korean style food and writing. My wife did not believe me so I asked the young man that brought our appetizer what language that is as I pointed to a chalkboard. He said that it is Korean as this is a Korean restaurant. I thought it was a Japanese restaurant and then I realized the only thing Japanese here is the Sushi. I love Bulgogi, but I was in the mood for Japanese Steak Hibachi which is why I looked for a Japanese restaurant on Google Maps. Now for the bill. I saw it was over $50 for two lunches and an appetizer. I thought, wow this place is expensive. My wife looked at the bill and noticed that the dish she ordered was about $2 more than what the menu price said. She mentioned it to the waitress and the waitress said "Oh, sorry. I charged the dinner prices instead of the lunch prices." The corrected bill was brought out to us but it was still over $40. It is very rare that I ever give a place such a low rating. It could have been 3 stars until they tried...

Before anything, I just want to say I know how hard servers work ,especially during the holidays, and I also worked as a server during school. It's not a easy job and I respect their hustle.

I ordered a seafood kalguksu and my friend ordered a beef hibachi. The beef was so tough my friend literally choked and threw up. Thankfully she was fine but no one came to check up on her or ask if she was ok expect for a lovely busser (I think?). She gave her some napkins and asked if she was ok before leaving.

So naturally she didn't want to finish her dish and flagged down another waitress to take the item away. Ms. Young (wears glasses, ~5'7'', looked 55 years old ) came to our table and had difficulty understanding why we didn't want the dish anymore but she did take it off the table and our bill eventually.

We asked for the check and paid and we were on the way out when Ms. Young stopped me to lecture me about the amount of gratuity I left. She laughed and said "you know 15% is normal". I replied yes but she did not provide a good service. She never asked if my friend was ok, she served other tables that came in after us first, and she acted like she did us a favor by taking the beef off our tab.

She then argued with me that I should be paying more. When I asked if no tip would be better she confirmed and threatened me to never come back/only order takeout..... Also heard her cuss me out as we left lol

Ms. Young, if you're reading this, I'm not going back regardless of your threats. IDK how you are as a server but you are a horrible person with a bad attitude towards paying customers. Also, don't curse in front of people unless you know for sure they don't speak your...

I called in an order Sunday evening, they said it would be done in 15-20 minutes. I got there 20 minutes later and was never acknowledged. I finally had to hunt down the waitress and tell her I was there to pick up an order (I saw an order to go on the counter as soon as I walked in and assumed it was mine). She handed me a ticket to confirm my order and when I told her it was correct she just walked away. I stood there and waited another 25-30 minutes trying to catch one of them to see what was going on. The waitress then went to give someone else a ticket with my order on it. I "interrupted" and said that it was my order. I showed her the ticket that SHE handed me and without saying anything she went and picked up the bag that had been there when I had walked in 30 minutes earlier! There was no apology for the wait or for the mistake. By that point, my soup and shumai was cold and to top it off when I got home I realized my Salmon cucumber roll had NO SALMON in it!! I paid for salmon and got rice and cucumber! The food tasted alright (the part of my order that wasn't messed up). But seriously, I can't believe how terrible the service was. I'm know it's not the waitresses fault that there were only two of them working on a busy Sunday evening--but I will...
