My doctor recommended this place so my husband and I decided to try. I ordered a knife cut noodles soup and my husband ordered a dumpling soup. Very simple side dishes (Napa cabbage kimchi and radish kimchi) came with our meals. We both said “oh hell yea this is authentic!!” within the first bite and enjoyed until….this…happened 😩😩. I noticed something in our cabbage kimchi that looked like something with green letters (W and P) written and I thought maybe I’m looking at the cabbage leaf but why do they look like W and P? Lol I decided to flip the kimchi and I was right. There was a piece of paper nicely folded with that piece of cabbage 🤮. I immediately spat out my food, notified them and asked for the check to pay. Our waitress said that she thinks the paper is from some kind of preservatives in their garlic they use to make the kimchi and apologized. I think they just don’t wash their cabbage 🤷♀️ because that paper was FOLDED ALONG THE CABBAGE LEAF CREASE which would’ve came out if they properly washed their cabbage before making kimchi. I make my kimchi too so I know it’s hard to wash the cabbages thoroughly because of those leaf creases but damn. You’re running a business and they should’ve been double, triple washed just to prevent this kind of incident. Our waitress came back, apologized again and said the bill is on the house. I insisted on paying but she said that this is their way of apologizing. We are never going back there solely because we now know that they don’t wash their veggies. I believe the food hygiene is the most important if you’re running a restaurant business no matter how good the food is. So in the first pic, you see the paper folded perfectly I’m the crease and the second pic is when I flipped the paper out of the crease 🤮🤮. Makes me wanna vomit by looking at...
Read moreWas excited to try Yi's Traditional after hearing some good reviews coming from this place. So a friend and I had to give it a try for lunch and see what the rave was about.
The Food: I went with the "Brisket Ox Bone Soup" and also got the "Brisket Meat Platter" to share with my friend. The soup broth is bland, but that's the point of it. You have tableside salty to add on to flavor to your liking. Which I really like. It's a very clean and healthy meal. Although, for the price, there wasn't that much protein and noodles in my soup, which was disappointing. The meat platter had plenty of brisket on the plate, just expensive for what it was. Overall, a nice and delicious meal. Just pricey.
The Service: Service was good. Even with limited staff, they are very attentive and friendly.
The Atmosphere: Nice and open space. A little small of a restaurant, but there are a decent amount of seats available. The place is overall clean and well spaced for comfort.
Overall, a 3.5/5. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. Main problem is the pricing that is associated with the dishes. Wayy too pricey for the amount of...
Read moreDefinitely get this soup on a colder rainy day! The broth was rich and carefully prepared, I only needed to add a small amount of salt. The value in terms of portion size and quality was high! There was also a generous amount of meat. It was my first time having this dish, but I come from a culture that is also heavily soup/stew focused and could tell that this place is a treasure. Also highly recommend the radish kimchi! It was so good I took a small container home.
My only complaint is that the restaurant is small so when it gets crowded it can get loud and seating feels cramped. I don’t understand the complaints about customer service, but then again I know what it’s like to work at a busy restaurant. When a restaurant is busy I lower my expectations because 1) I am choosing to eat at a busy time so I should have an understanding that a decent amount of patience will be required and 2) there may be circumstances I’m not aware of. Our waitress was impressively kind and attentive during a busy weekend...
