Update: Per their response below, I submitted the Famous Dave's contact form, and never heard back from them. It's been over two weeks. They are so NOT committed to exceptional service!
STAY AWAY!!! Go to Rudy's for any meat by the pound that you need! We just had the most disappointing experience with the Chandler Famous Dave's restaurant. We have been to the restaurant several times, and have ordered full catering last year. For my son's graduation get-together this weekend, we didn't need full catering, but instead just needed some meat by the pound for extra sandwiches. I ordered several pounds of the Texas Beef Brisket through the app 48 hours ahead of time. I added the delivery option that they offered me and prepaid a generous tip. The food was to be delivered on Sunday at 3:30pm. I received two texts from Famous Dave's confirming my order, along with a direct email from Famous Dave's also confirming my order. On Sunday afternoon, a little over an hour before our scheduled delivery, I got a text from Doordash and an email from Famous Dave's stating that our order had been canceled. I called the restaurant in a panic, since people would be arriving soon. The "manager" that I spoke with (Bob) was very rude, and said he never received the order, because DoorDash canceled it. At this point, I hadn't given him an order number, so how would he know if he didn't receive it? Anyway, I told him that we had received a confirmation email and text, and he asked for the order number. I gave it to him, and he verified my information. He also asked if I had ordered catering. I said "no", and that I had just ordered on the app. I thought it was strange that he asked that question. He then said, "Sorry, DoorDash canceled this order. There's nothing I can do. You'll have to put another order in on the app". What? I then reminded him that I paid for delivery, and that I'm only 15 minutes away. Bob provided no viable solution other than for us to resubmit the order and drive down to the restaurant and pick it up ourselves. I told him I would send my daughter to pick up the food. I asked for a discount to make up for the mess that was caused right before our party. Bob said No. My daughter picked up the food (Bob did pass along a small discount). Remember, we ordered the Texas Beef Brisket ... their most expensive meat. What we got was a layer of brisket on top, with the meat below being some chopped up, over-salted mess. This is the first time that my guests did not finish the brisket. It was so disappointing. Anyway, after the party, I contacted DoorDash about our failed order. They told me that they didn't cancel the order. They were notified of the canceled order and then informed us. They further stated that even if they wanted to cancel for some reason, they do not have the option to do so. I have included pictures of the disgusting meat we received, along with the confirmation from Famous Dave's and confirmation from DoorDash that they did not cancel the order. Bob clearly lied to us. DoorDash does not cancel orders. Famous Dave's probably canceled the order themselves, and then notified DoorDash. Then, when under pressure to make our order, they put some sloppy burnt ends or some other chopped meat into our container under the real beef brisket. Incidentally, this is only the second time we've ordered (non-catering) food to go. And the first time, they gave us the wrong order. Lesson learned Bob. We'll never use your services again....
Read moreTheir staff made me cry tonight... twice. My brother and I love this restaurant. Actually Famous Dave's is our favorite restaurant. My brother has had 24 surgeries in life. Due to extreme and violent tremors, he has been unable to brush his teeth for 15+ years; he would injure himself if he tries. So two thirds of his teeth are broken inside his gums. He is unable to feed himself. Tomorrow he will have his 25th surgery and two surgeons will work two shifts back to back and extract all of his teeth.
I am really broke. Despite that I decided to bring my brother to this restaurant tonight in Chandler to enjoy his last real meal before tomorrow's surgery. For three months after that, he will not be able to eat solid food. We also invited our friend, a gentleman who lives in the same skilled nursing facility. He loves this restaurant too. Tonight's visit was our third one this year. The staff know us. It is very challenging to feed my brother. I have to hold his head tightly and place the food in his mouth rapidly because of his violent tremors.
On entry their Manageress ran and kept the door open as I pushed my brother's wheelchair into the restaurant. I had to drive back to bring our friend. Two wheelchairs cannot fit in my car and they both need to be in the front seat. Again, the staff kept the door open for him to roll his wheelchair inside. We were late but the staff assured us it will be OK if we leave a bit late. They remember me. And my brother. And our friend.
We ordered our food and it was awesome, as always. Delicious. Clean. Healthy. Just perfect food. Our server Erica and the Manageress Laura were extra attentive, as always. Kind beyond measure, as always. Then I asked for the bill. I saw $25 had been paid by cash towards our bill. I asked Erica what was that? With a humility that is reserved for the elite Angels of our Lord, she said someone from another table had paid the money. I realized this was her own doing or that of the Manageress. I began to cry in face of the greatness of these spiritual giants. They owe us nothing and yet after they had showered us with such amazing hospitality, they paid towards our meal. I was overcome with awe. This was pure grace. I dropped off my brother and came back to pick up our friend. I walked in and loudly thanked the empty dining hall which had remained open only to keep our friend inside, after the closing time. Laura came out again and I said I cannot thank them enough. She showered me with such kind words....she made this 62 year old tough guy cry again.
These staff have angelic qualities. I hope and pray - and I know - that an ample share of the blessings of God will surround each of their team members and of course will embrace Laura and Erica. They have left an indelible mark on me and I will forever remember their gracious...
